This is freaking awesome. I hope those of you who are interested in this sort of thing are watching. You can get it on various sites. I think they need to do this sort of thing for all important bills.

One thing I will say about President Obama - some of his ideas on politics are great. I like this debate. And I liked his comments during the State of the Union address.

Thought I'll pop in to comment on this during the break. Its been good so far, and even though Obama said hes liked whats happened so far, there really hasn't been much progress. Some talking points have been hit down (no doubt that they will still be used) but no real progress in terms of actually getting a compromise deal or somewhere where both sides can see the light. I think Biden's 15 seconds has been the best so far where he stated the arguament is not philosophical or black and white, but rather just deciding how much government regulation there should be in the industry.

I also like that some Dems have finally brought up the economic arguament, and that the pooling idea is being talked about more. Hoping for greater things after lunch but I think it needs some forceful purpose so that both sides are actually talking about what they both want and where they are willing to compromise.

Who's the younger Republican guy who just made the point that the senate plan will cost more? He's pretty much the only one (other than the president) who is actually arguing points rather than making stump speeches.

EDIT - Paul Ryan of Wisconsin. Apparently he drafted a healthcare bill.

The absolute most disgusting and vile thing with this debate are the "twitter" comments I have to read next to msnbc's coverage. I mean, from both sides of the political spectrum, people are posting the most moronic and horrendously uninformed comments I've ever seen in my life. These comments make the CC Fora comments look educated and intelligent. It makes me shudder to think that these people vote and/or that these people are the future of the nation.

lol No kidding. I'd rather hear the talking heads because most of them at least have a degree in something. Why anyone cares what random twits think is beyond me.

In case anyone is watching, the reason that the Democrats don't want to trash this bill is because they are worried a new bill won't get proposed before November. So, don't think that this bill is the solution, even if you are a Democrat. I think there is good stuff from this debate that can be used to craft a new bill that everyone will be relatively happy with.

The next time someone says the Republican Party is the party of old, rich, white men, I'm going to laugh hysterically and pull out this video. I mean, some of these bastards need to retire.

Speaker Pelosi just noted that abortions are not covered in "this bill." They are. Just wanted to point that out.

EDIT - In the Senate bill they are covered; not in the House bill. Sorry about that.

Another thing... President Obama just said it and other Democrats have said it... more and more people are on government plans lately because "employers and health insurers are dropping people." I wonder why... could it be because PEOPLE ARE GETTING LAID OFF FROM THEIR FUCKING JOBS?!?! I really hate the rhetoric. Stop with the rhetoric. Please.

Slow day at the office with the snow. This is the biggest issue for the US in the last 20 years.

Just wanted to see Obama thinking on his toes, seeing just how well he knows and can speak on the issues, just see how well he does without the teleprompter. I see why he has held fewer conferences than Bush. He's such a great speaker.

Wow, a 3-4 second clip continuously played back to back....You've proved so much.

I quite enjoyed it, although its killed my whole day. Still can't see the Republicans voting with the bill or any bipartisan negotiation as its against their base and funders, and their step by step arguament just never made any sense to me. All of them know all the problems, theres no need to go back to square 1, they just need to make the changes to the basics of the bills that are already out there.
