RULES:
this is a 1 vs. 1 tournament that will follow the Major League Soccer season...surprised I hadn't seen this already.
The regular season will follow the MLS schedule with a series of 1 vs. 1 matchups.
Regular season standings...
Teams earn 3 points for a win (claim the map in 12 or fewer rounds)
Teams earn 1 point for a tie (any map that goes to 13 rounds or beyond)
Teams earn 0 points for a loss.
Playoffs...
At the end of the regular season the top two teams in each conference qualify along with four wildcard teams -- the ones with the next four best records throughout MLS.
This is where I have a minor tweak to the true MLS season...the first round will be a best-of-three series with the higher seed hosting Games 1 & 3.
The Conference finals will be a best-of-five format with the higher seed hosting Games 1, 3 & 5
The MLS Cup will also be best of five with Game 5 being on Classic (flat, chained, sunny).
The other change is that instead of a single map per match, the playoffs will consist of a first half map and a second half map...if necessary an overtime map.
Scoring will be as follows...
Win in 5 rounds or fewer: score 3 goals
Win in 8 rounds or fewer: score 2 goals
Wins in 12 rounds or fewer: score 1 goal
Win in 13+ rounds: score 1 goal ... (only if the other half goes 11+ rounds)
Example: Houston win the first half map in 11 rounds (1 goal), while Colorado wins the second half map in 15 rounds (1 goal...because the 1st half went 11+). Houston wins the overtime map to score the sudden death goal. Houston wins Game 1 of the series by a 2-1 score.
2nd example: DC United wins first half in 7 rounds (2 goals) and wins the second half in 10 rounds (1 goal) to take Game 1 of the series by a 3-0 count.
When signing up you must declare a team and post your home map and settings.
***SEQUENTIAL order and AUTO deploy are required...the rest is up to you.****
Good luck and enjoy, flex

All right guys...many of you know I hate playing a long regular season only to have a bad drop decide it in the playoffs...so I've expanded the playoff format to the following (the update is also new in the rules).
*All series remain the same length...1st round (best of 3), semis and championship (best-of-five)...I've just expanded how each match in that series is played...here's the rules update...pretty basic, all based on winning in a certain round...nothing to do with armies or formulas like some of my other tourneys.
*Instead of a single map per match, the playoffs will consist of a first half map and a second half map...if necessary an overtime map.
Scoring will be as follows...
Win in 5 rounds or fewer: score 3 goals
Win in 9 rounds or fewer: score 2 goals
Wins in 12 rounds or fewer: score 1 goal
Win in 13+ rounds: score 1 goal only if the other half goes 10+ rounds.
Example: Houston win the first half map in 10 rounds (1 goal), while Colorado wins the second half map in 15 rounds (1 goal...because the 1st half went 10+).

A full team list with home-field settings has been updated, along with a standings table that includes schedules for the first couple sets of games. These will be updated throughout the season...check the first couple posts in this thread.
Also, I brought in the expansion Portland Timbers a year early (replacing Colorado) as my team for this tourney...go Timbers. Sorry, I have not patience

sure thing Overlander...I'll switch you, too. Can't wait for next season to arrive...this summer almost seems wasted. Whole new players and everything. Our coach spent last week (early-season games) in Europe searching for MLS-ready talent.
