Do not flame or bait. Or this will get locked for the 3rd time.
Its simple
1. vote
2. give your opinion why you think so if you so desire it. DONT get into an argument about it, please. Discuss.

You should first be looking at the forum guidelines and then asking a specific dept mod. There is a reason they are colored differently. There are very few situations that require and immediate response.

Yes. I can think of nothing for which any of us would need immediate help.

I say no, it's important for mods to be available. If they're here to aid the CC community, they should be visible.

If a new person (or anyone for that matter) has a question, they would, more often than not, need to be able to contact the closest mod as soon as possible. Knowing when the mod is online, makes them more approachable and available for support.

Yes, but the basic instance of them being mod, makes them high ranking members of the site, which means they have general knowledge of the site, makes them knowledgeable to be addressed by general questions

Can you please give an example of something that would be so urgent that would require immediate attention?

Always a good spot to have questions answered. Sometimes even non-mods can answer.

I voted 'yes'. Any immediate problems I have can usually be fixed by going to the pub.
I used to be 'visible' until I left CC open and went out for an hour. When I got back there were 15 pm's waiting for me, each increasingly obnoxious, telling me to take my turn. Since then I've been hidden. That was one person, in one game and I aint no mod!
If a mod wants to hide his status, more power to his/her elbow, besides, there is a perfectly good Q and A sub forum for any 'immediate' problems.
Time for a swift pint down me local, and put the world to rights............

really our online "status" has nothing to do with whether we are available or not. If I am on and I am sent a pm (or when I get on if I have one in my inbox) about something I am always willing to help! Or at least direct the person to the appropriate moderator.

How about when someone is point dumping? mods are generally pretty good at stopping it before they finish there mission.. but if we knew what mods were online we could stop it from almost the start... and there is times mods are no where to be found until its to late..

Absolutely. There should always be a moderator in disguise, or at least the threat of one. Those who do not break the rules should not have to suffer the tiny miniscule minority that cannot follow them.
Besides, mods are players too, and if they arent on the clock, they deserve their privacy and time to themselves as well.
However, I would think that youd want one or two on call, and if I see something that needs immediate action, which does happen, Ill shoot a pm to the mod that is on at the time. No doubt it gets sent with 80 other people doing the same, but some situations could mean the success or failure of CC as a whole if I do not send my pm. Ok, maybe its not that important...

Ok so the point dumping happened... What was the emergency?
emergency
A serious situation or occurrence that happens unexpectedly and demands immediate action.
In the Kid A case, he got punished for it, and the people that abused the situation will most likely get punished too.
The report for Kid A was made at 12:51 am. It was solved at 1:17 am. It was less than half an hour.. just how much faster can things really get done?

like i said generally the mods are quick acting on it.. but thats not always the case.. the latest one was solved perfectly... but there are some that are not

That is an EXCELLENT point.

Contrary to popular belief, most mods do NOT have the ability to ban someone (hence the recent explosion in Team members), so even if you saw a mod listed, it's not 100% guaranteed that they could do anything about it.

yes, of course they should be able to hide their status. It is a volunteer job, they spend a lot of time helping the game, and they have as much right to their privacy, when needed, as any other player.

why shouldn't they be able to hide?
They play games like the rest of us & contrary to popular belief they do not work on this site 24 hours a day.
Saying a Mod should not be able to hide so that they can answer to any paying customer any time of the day is like someone coming up to me asking me to solve their problems because they are a tax payer and I work for the school.
Again, contrary to popular belief your measly 1 millionth percent of the taxes we collect (or in this case premium fees) doesn't amount to me owning you shit. (or in this case the mods owing you shit)
Oh wait, their not getting paid? STFU & fix your own damn problems
That is all, good day.

Ed this is not directed at you, just using your quote
Anyone calling anything on here an Emergency needs a reality check.
It's a Fing game people!
The only thing on this site that could remotely be called an emergency is if the site was hacked & all our personal info (credit card#s etc) were stolen.
Other than that, get the F over it & quit crying about who got what or points being cheated etc.

lol if he got busted straight away they would not of had a case for point dumping
as for hiding online ok it should be set up that certain mods should not hide online status for example tourney mods(because we are making tourneys up and need game clearence would be nice to see who is online.)so we can get it quicker.
tournement organisers(i know they are not mods)should also not hide there online status because if a player has a problem they should be able to see if you are online.
c and a mods this could be 50/50 as they cant work any faster than what they do.
disscusion and sug mods there is enough of them to at least have one availible at peak times with online status.
clan mods these should also be availible to see in case there is a problem with clans.
or at least for all of these have a time scale for when they are usually online so that we know when to get in touch. to have the disscusion you need.

IMO, if anyone has the right to hide their status, it should be them. Otherwise, they will get bombarded with tons and tons of PMs/wall posts basically going "why didn't I get my privs for this tourney yet?" or "why didn't I get my medal yet (I'm guilty of that one time

)"

If you have something you really have to get off your chest, PM several mods, preferably ones whose duties are relevant to your problem.
If it's more urgent than that, take a chill pill.
