WTF happened to freestyle speed games

WTF happened to freestyle speed games, 90% of all speed games are now sequential unless your on board for those 2 hour stints twice a day. Has it become too difficult for speed game players to now learn click-able maps to make them competitive, or has the peeps who have mastered the speed become so good that they have inadvertently coerced the other player not prepared to to try click-ables out of true real time games, and they have now opted for speed sequential games( an oxymoron statement in its self????) what are your thoughts please, i have a few thoughts, but would like CC's opinion before i start to give it. I am slightly disappointed seem i work 6 days a week and only have limited time to test my skill, but cant often find the players. So at 26 am i just getting wrinkles in my bones or am i justified in the general social trend that has been swaying over the last 3 or 4 years? :ugeek:

Who cares. Speed freestyle sucks anyway. I like to play games of strategy, not games of "who has the best connection and fastest mouse hand".

Hate to break it to you, but speed freestyle is a game you likely would get killed in. There is lots of strategy needed to win a multiplayer speed freestyle game. If you think not then try to play one and see how it feels when the mac truck runs over you. 8-)

Agreed. With Bruce and the OP. When I started playing freestyle, I was just as fast as I am now. But I win them much more often now. Because I learned the strategy. Strategy beats speed a lot of the time.

fact is, your computer/internet setup can still assist you in a speed game, and not in any other game on this site... that can not be denied... also, any game in which you have to download all sorts of cheats/add ons to have a prayer, i am not interested in. i don't even like having the counter on my current games. some of us are still old enough to have actually been taught how to count and even read a map legend for instructions to find out who has what bonus, etc... speed freestyle games are just not for me or my non suped up mac, and thus i choose not to play them..-the black jesus

Ah, lovely, another thread where the purist constituents of CC come in and bash freestyle. Fact is there is a lot of strategy involved, and you'd be taken down handily by a well-versed freestyler even if he was using dropdowns.

Agreed (even though it's not aimed at me).

Conversely, the best strategy in the world won't win a freestyle game using a dial-up connection.

I used to love freestyle when there were no clickies, but when they came out every game I played I got killed in because by the time I layed down troops, I had lost 5 regions. I stopped playing them, even though they can be much more fun on an even playing field.

hmmm i used to play these all the time. i remember being pretty competitive myself and i never once used clickies always dropdowns. i dont have lightning fast internet either. as long as you have modest technology you can still have a chance to win every game.

however, i suppose AWEFUL technology could be a huge disadvantage... but I think most people here have decent connection at least.

Someone brought up the clickable maps possibility. I don't know if that is a factor in freestyle speed games not being available or not. But I do believe that a person that has clickable maps has an undue advantage over a player that does not have clickable maps. I think if there's a way to make it so that you can know who has clickable maps and who doesn't then that'd be good. Also if you create a freestyle game and you don't want clickable maps to be part of the equation then make it so that is an option. I think clickable maps is otherwise OK as long as it is being used on the level.

I think people should download clickies :P. As long as you own the computer (and it's not like 20 years old), there's no reason you can't. Now, if you're playing at work, well, you shouldn't have an hour to dedicate to a large speed freestyle game at work.

I have no idea why someone would NOT want to use clickies, when ever i get on someone elses computer and check in on my games it sucks not having them, and I'm talking about taking my turns in casual games where speed is not an issue.

Lets consider for a moment some historical technological advancements that people thought were evil..........

1)fire
2)the knife
3)the wheel
4)the gun, which in certain instances made the knife obsolete
5)penicillin

I can't say I'd recommend freestyle speed, and, for that matter, with escalating spoils, to anyone clearly as incompetant and impatient as you. Your mere statement about freestyle being about those with the "best connections and fastest mouse hands" just about sums up your ignorance.

Back to sequential, 24-hour for you, my friend. :)

the fact that its summer time means a lot of people are taking a little break from CC, that could be one reason ur speed freestyle games are taking so long to fill.. the other night i checked and there was at least 7 speed freestyle open and waiting for players

Clickies for sure.

No beef with those that use them, but I miss freestyle without 'em.
It's like Having to have peanut butter on your toast all the time. Sometimes I just like jam.

There should be a seperate non-clickie freestyle option when making games....

Not all people are computer savvy lol. I tried to download it but it either didn't work or a setting on my comp was off. I might try it again at some point. I initially had the same proble with map ranker and got that to work eventually.
