http://www.globaltoronto.com/violence+e ... story.html13 years in the city and this is the first time I've witnessed a violent crime.
We were getting ready to play our soccer game in the field across the street when BANG BANG FUCKING BANG. Some gangbangers were opening fire over a fence into someone's backyard. Pretty surreal experience. I never knew a handgun was so fucking loud.
CBC radio this morning was reporting the shooting and said it happened while "kids were playing soccer across the street". I don't think any of us playing soccer were under 30. The kids who were close by were the ones with the fucking guns in their hands not he ones playing soccer. :/

Did you go over and scold them "You aware the possession of a handgun requires a Possession and Acquisition Licence for Restricted Firearms as mandated by the Canada Firearms Registry Act of 2002, eh?"

Yep. I did a ton of finger-wagging and tsk-tsking.

Didn't you just bowl up to them and say, "Yo mod edit, I'm gonna bust a cap in yo ass"
I was lead to believe that was the right thing to do in this situation.

Incorrect Pedro. Cap busting had fully commenced at that point. Shoot and/or take cover.

This gun malarkey is more complicated that I first thought. I need to visit you tube and watch some more rap videos.

nah. The excitement lasted for about 20 minutes -- cops arriving, statements taken, ambulampses -- then we just carried on playing soccer. it was a wicked game we had too, I might add.
I guess the one thing I confirmed about myself, that I had already suspected, was that I really didn't have much sympathy or care for these kids in gangs shooting each other. It's probably pretty callous of me to admit, but it is the truth. These kids have every opportunity in this city to do something other than shoot guns at people.

Well, all jocularity aside, hopefully the victims were able to pull out a copy of the Firearms Registry Act fast enough to scare away the gangsters. My understanding is that copies of the FRA printed on Canary paper are often more intimidating to would-be assassins than those printed on standard white bond.

I saw a Public Health Official on television last night decrying the criticism against the gun registry by arguing that the registry should be first and foremost looked at from a public health point of view. That many people commit suicide using long guns and that the registry would reduce the number of people committing suicide. my reaction to that statement was a hearty gut laugh followed by a long reverberous fart.

Football of the top of my head. (yeah I meant soccer)
I hate to be one of those people but, when you let television parent your kids...
I know I'm on here too much. I never deny my hypocrosy.

Actually a blade is much more effective than a gun for suicide if you want a 100% success rate. Problem is most folks are pussies when it comes to cutting themselves so they take the chance on the gun. Pills are probably the easiest but you need to make sure you have the right kind - don't want to go out like Emma Bovary.

I knew someone, who knew someone that tried to drink drano in an attempt to commit suicide. It didn't work, dude didn't die but never quite recovered either. I spent a significant amount of time saying things like. No. Seriously? Are you sure? Drano the stuff for unclogging drains?

Could just hang yourself or jump off a tall building.

PPl seem to just jump of bridges around here, but saying that if you fancy this option make sure you dive as the last person went feet first and his legs went into his body and it took 20mins of 'standing' like this before he died.

I knew first hand a guy that jumped off a bridge, he's parapaligic now.

Met a few cutters in my high school.
One kid I knew and his family murdered by a dude who was addicted to meth and claimed Satan told him to.
Few other dudes who were a few fruit loops shy of a full bowl, sure I'll meet more.
Have to say Washington state lives up to the highest suicidal rating among other things.

When I was about five or six I saw a dude get murdered in the middle of the street by another dude with a ball-peen hammer. The first guy was running towards me and he tripped. Just like that, the second guy was on top of him swinging away at his skull. Even as the hammer fell, neither of them ever said a word. There were a ton of people across the street who all just watched it happen. Some big black lady was screaming "NOOO" and crying before the first guy even tripped.
I watched it. And then I carefully and quitely set down my action figures and went inside the trailer.

I was once in this bar drinking when suddenly some meth head comes in, takes a lead pipe out of his pocket and takes a swing at another guy at the bar. I remember how he was standing for a couple of seconds and then collapsed on the floor. Then he started bleeding and shit.
I don't know what happened afterwards, or did the guy survive. The ambulance guys sure were in a hurry to get him out of there - didn't even bother to bring in the stretchers, they just grabbed the guy from his arms and legs and ran carrying him.
Dumbfucks who kill each other: the world is full of them.

I spent 6 months in Toronto once, when I just arrived a lady told me that it wasn't safe anymore, that some people had started locking their front doors and that last year they had had 2 murders in the TGA.
I thought she was pulling my leg. When I realized she was serious I laughed. Two murders! People not locking the front door! Lol.
