Ping pong should at least be labeled table tennis. Watch a high level game, and you've got to have a bit of respect for what the players have trained themselves to do, even if you don't like the game:
Impressive point

The only one that really doesn't seem like a sport to me is WWE. It's just a show, and they're not really competing on any level of skill. It's closer to dancing. Impressive, and physically demanding (even dangerously so), but not competitive.

hey wait a minute, couldn't we be having the cooler discussion of what constitutes a sport, or what is the difference between a game and a sport?
what about this: it can't be a sport if you can't play defense (definitely leaves out fucking track)
on the other hand: what do you do with tennis? do you actually play defense there? i would definitely consider this one to be a sport, but it seems like it fails the defense test

This is true for any activity. Don't get me wrong, Ping Pong is one of my favorite hobbies on the list, behind baseball and golf, (my paddle is named "Deus Vult" ["God Wills It"]) but it's definitely not a sport.

You DEFINITELY play defense in tennis. That's pretty much my game style. I'm mediocre at getting hits that give me points, but I'm spectacular at ranging from side to side and saving "sure" points against my opponent.

You can definitely play defense in tennis- it's half the game. A player's serving game can be excellent, but they won't get far if they can't return.

My issue was more with calling it Ping Pong. It's kinda dismissive from the outset. It's a nickname, and it's not what people who play it at a high level call it, sport or not.
EDIT- apologies for doubling up your post.

Anything that can be determined by human error (referees or umpires) is a game (see, Football, Ping Pong, soccer, etc)
Anything that is determined by empirical means is a sport (hunting/fishing, track & field, racing of any kind)
Anything that is determined by a panel of judges is a performance (synchronized swimming, WWE, cheerleading)
The athleticism of any of those activities doesn't really have a bearing on whether it's a game, sport or performance.

tobogganing, and anything else where the winner wins by nanoseconds and there is no strategy and you do it one at a time.
Except maybe archery.

Oh come on- watch Cool Runnings.
You'll think twice about dismissing archery next time.

To me, the criteria for consideration as a sport is the uncertainty of the outcome. We can argue over the merits of something like track, but the outcome is uncertain to everyone. WWE is scripted, that means the competitors and the people in charge know the outcome. That is not a sport.
