Astronomy is awesome!
Huge moon tonight. Catch it at your sunset.
Also, Libya's getting lit up right now by 110 Tomahawk missiles...
But who cares, Cop Out is on HBO tonight (I know it's supposed to be bad but Tracy Morgan is funny) and then Pee-Wee Herman's Broadway Show is on after that.
It's not TV, it's HBO!

Would love to, unfortunately our skies are covered with clouds tonight [sigh]. BUT... maybe it will clear out later.

Actions go in the angled-brackets, not bracket-brackets.

So cool with a telescope. I'll just sit outside and look at my friend Moon.

Drove out to see it, but it had passed the horizon so the effect was not complete.
I saw one about five years ago driving up a hill that aimed directly at the moon and as it crested the horizon, the full moon effect happened and I seriously would have believed it was out of orbit if someone told me it was at that moment.
Im kind of gullable though.
The "Best" moon Ive seen though was a "blood" red moon in Maine. Just as it peaked over the horizon, it was deep red, bordering on purple and we honestly were afraid there was a fire across the lake. Only once it had cleared the horizon was it clear what it was, and it was still the deepest orange Ive ever seen. I have to admit, if there was a sheep around when that moon was rising, 'Id have sacrificed that thing in a second to try to keep hell at bay...and for some lamb chops.

No, the Tea Party likes the moon, but only when it is high in the sky and at its whitest. God forbid they see a lunar eclipse, it scares the living crap out of them.

Yeah, its the biggest and fattest its been in 18 years. All the other astronomical bodies are much smaller in comparison, and have not grown nearly as much, relatively speaking. While focusing on it, the others suffer not even being noticed, or visible in their time of need.

What I find interesting is that they still have not fully identified the exact cause of the Moon Effect, which makes the moon appear to be bigger when viewed in contrast to objects in the foreground. They have plenty of theories, and are probably right with some of them, but its still interesting we don't understand it completely.
