If you like Eastbound and Down, see it.

It gets it right in terms of violence in comedy. When violence starts, all of the actors play it straight and treat the situation seriously. Cop Out is probably the most recent example of a comedy that fell apart for that simple reason. If they had just played it straight when the bullets started flying, if Tracy Morgan just hadn't kept doing the bumbling clod schtick yet somehow killing all of the bad guys, things wouldn't have felt so contrived and distractingly fake. I know, willful suspension of disbelief and all that, but you need to help me out a little.

Your Highness is definitely worth a rental. I enjoyed seeing it in the theater because I was with a great audience (and I get cheap tickets), and a good audience always helps boost the experience. There wasn't enough spectacle to sway occasional theater-goers though. The sound and effects were certainly good for a comedy, but weren't necessary. All of the best stuff was in the dialog and characters reactions anyway.

Also, I loved that Danny McBride and James Franco had absolutely no problem doing consistently terrible English accents throughout. There were some English actors too (Damien Lewis -- who many of you would recognize as Dick Winters from Band of Brothers), which only underscored how silly McBride and Franco were being. Thoroughly enjoyable, but Eastbound and Down is still the masterpiece work to come from McBride, and at least we have this to hold us over until next season starts.

I seen a trailer for it...doesn't seem like my kind of music. A lot of offshot random swearing and it looked kind of distasteful. However, that's not to say it would be an excellent movie for a lot of people I know :D

Speaking of movies, I seen Limitless. It's a decent movie, but there's a lack of parts where you feel invested into the movie (which are the kind I like). It kind of takes a while to pick up, but I don't regret seeing it at all.

I'd pay very good money for a Natalie Portman sex tape.

I'd pay double that for her to have sex with me.

I'd pay triple that if she was dressed up as Padme in the scene where her and Anakin are about to die on that one planet, with those creatures being released....yeah, not too specific. I can't remember. It was at the end of Episode 2, shortly before all the Jedi show up to that arena and fight all the droids. That white outfit she had on was fucking hot.

Speaking of Danny McBride masterpieces, anyone else see Foot Fist Way? Sometimes I think that Will Ferrel and I bought the only two copies of that DVD.

Has anyone seen Insidious? I've been getting a lot of mixed reviews about it.

Your Highness has that stoner comedy look to it from the trailer. Doesn't look too appealing to me, but I agree that Eastbound and Down was great.

ugh, I feel compelled to disagree. I saw the movie last night. It was really bad. There were a few funny points, the bad guy being most of them, but over all it was just too weird, and not very funny. In fact my next dissertation is maybe the greatest insult that can be given to a stoner comedy; I think I would have been better if I were sober.

Either way this reinstated my firm belief that Tenatious D and the pick of Destiny is and always will be the greatest stoner comedy of all time.

100% agreed.
