Someone had a quote of mine in their signature about this subject. Yes, I am also surprised at the personal offense people sometimes take when you attack them.

I have exactly one tear drop roll down my face whenever I get attacked. I have to try to switch eyes to make it even.

I'm not sure why people take it personally. Surely they know it's inevitable, that to win, you'll have to attack them and vice versa.

I am absolutely certain that anytime I am attacked it is personal and if people would stop reading game chat I would not have that problem.

That argument is sometimes valid, sometimes not. If you are stupidly attacking someone, so that both of you are getting weaker while somebody else is getting stronger, then that sometimes drives people nuts, and with good reason. On the other hand, sometimes people will say that's what's happening even when it isn't. If you are attacking intelligently, with a sensible strategic purpose in mind, then stick to your guns and don't worry about it.
