Hi all,

A newcomer, I am a little puzzled by the log of what a nameless opponent did in a recent game:

2011-08-03 16:17:51 - nameless received 5 troops for holding North America
2011-08-03 16:17:51 - nameless received 2 troops for holding South America
2011-08-03 16:17:51 - nameless received 6 troops for 19 regions
2011-08-03 16:18:06 - nameless cashed in a group of London, Edmonton, and Manila worth 10 troops
2011-08-03 16:18:06 - nameless got bonus of 2 troops added to London
2011-08-03 16:18:06 - nameless got bonus of 2 troops added to Edmonton

The first 4 rows I understand but what is the "bonus of 2 troops" nonsense - where do the bonus troops come from?

This happens when you actually occupy a territory that you have the spoil for, when you hand in you then get 2 troops added to that territory. Therefore in the example you provided nameless must have held London and Edmonton.

When you receive a card for a territory you own, the name will be in brackets, you will get the 2 bonus armies for those. Also when you are getting ready to cash the territories on the cards you have will be highlighted on the map.

although it would have made sense to publish it again under the game options, it is published on the instructions page, just follow the like or read the quote.

What's a group of spoils? You earn spoils at the end of every turn in which you successfully conquer a region, just like reality! These spoils each represent a region on the map and can be blue, green or red. If you acquire 3 spoils of any one colour, or one of each, you now have a "group" of spoils which you may exchange for additional troops at this time. The value of these spoils depends on which spoils game option was chosen: escalating or flat-rate. You also get a 2 troop bonus on any region that you own if it is represented in the group
