RETIRE OPTION

Hey CC,

There have been a lot of games I have been a part of where I think they will be a quick game or at least not take to long and they end up dragging a lot longer than I think. Sometimes when this happens, I have to leave my computer and can no longer make my moves, usually in speed games but also in regular games if I go away on vacation (I am in one game that has lasted almost 2 months so far).

I never want to miss a turn as i feel it looks bad on me but also I may receive a bad rating because of this. These things could lead me to miss out on some tournaments that require a high rating and high percentage of turns taken.

Because of some unforeseen circumstances that I am sure a lot of us can not control, I feel that CC should look to add a resign or forfeit option to each game. This option can allow a player to resign from a game that he/she can not finish. If a player resigns from a game, it will count as any normal game and the player resigning will be docked points and take the loss while the opponent will receive the amount of points in a normal win over the opponent resigning as well as getting the win.

I feel that this will allow players who have to leave a speed game (or normal game) and can not continue the benefit of not having their percentage of turns taken decrease as well as preventing opponents from thinking that said player is a deadbeat/quitter.

This has been suggested & rejected countless times. Too much abuse. Sorry, but it won't happen.

How can there be abuse? If you see someone continuously resigning in games or for-fitting i think it is easy to suspend them or something like that from CC. I think it would be unfair to let people who have good ratings and percentage of turns taken to take a hit if something unforeseeable happens.

It can easily be controlled just like you are able to control people with dual accounts or secret diplomacy's. Because there isn't something like this, people like me run the risk of having our stats hurt which could prevent us from numerous tournaments.

I think that most people are reasonable and understand that on occasion players are going to miss turns due to unforeseen circumstances..... and also recognize when it is an habitual problem for some

Also, there are many problems with a forfeit or "opt out" feature... for instance, what if you have a position that is critical to the game play? will all your troops become neutral? that would change the outcome regardless of how people have played the game and it would happen way too often if people had an easy out button to push.

Just my thoughts
