Donate a few bucks to the SOS Africa Child Sponsorship...this community of people should EASILY be able to meet the tiny goal that has been set.
Seriously, you can't find even a nickel to give to a kid?
Just do it.

That sounds like a great slogan for a charity: "Don't be a douche; donate to the cause."

Spicy.

=D> Thanks LMS for being the first to post a thread about this.

C'mon guys - even a £1/$ contribution is something.. I'm sure even the younger people of the community could afford that.

Helping children at risk is a good cause and from all I've read SOS Africa is a well conceived global organization that does good work.

I think ill donate to them after I'm done donating to my local IHN. Come on people there are people in need in your own backyard please try to help them as well. I'm tired of everyone whining about the plight of Africa when the same thing is happening to your neighbors only they're to close to home so they get ignored.

Stephen,

If you know someone affiliated with other charities, have them get in touch with us. Maybe CC can help raise funds for other charities as well, without going overboard, since we are a gaming community primarily. :)

Well, I tried to donate, but the stupid "Verified by Visa" function claimed I was giving them a fake number. I double-checked it twice. So "Verified by Visa" is a douche.

There is enough people starving and homeless in my part of the world, I prefer to send my money and such to those causes.

Why was their no fund prior to last week? Did Kony touch your hearts that much that you finally realized how poor some parts of Africa are?

Sorry, I just hate knee jerk reactions.

Our Charity Donation drive really has nothing to do with KONY---not even the timing! We've been working on this fundraiser for quite some time, after we announced last year that SOS Africa was our first official charity. :D The timing just corresponds with how long it took for us to get a reward map developed, hammer out some other details, and for just giving to fix a widget code issue they had!

So I have a question then in regards to this "charity" Why, if this site is Canadian owned, have the majority of its players from the US, would it be collecting funds for a UK charity to help African child sponsorship? And why would it take donations from its members?

Imagine the amount of funds it could donate in its memberships names, if 5 dollars from ever $25 premium purchase, or re-up was donated on our/ Conquer Clubs behalf. Your 600 pound target would be no problem at all.

In fact, Lack, take 5 bucks from my Feb. re-up and donate it on my behalf. There, as soon as Lack throws in my cash, I have done my part.

Is CC matching all of its members donations or doubling it?

We are an international gaming community here at Conquer Club. I think we can take some great pride that we can come together not only to beat the living world domination out of each other, but also that we can come together to do some good in the real world in which we all live.

Tactician aka Matt, was simply a player on Conquer Club and reached out to us about this idea, and we thought it could be a great little event for our community, especially if we tied in a nice new Africa Map to add in CC's touch to it all.

And it's totally fine if anyone doesn't feel comfortable giving to this charity. It is by no means and obligation. If you don't donate, you'll still get to play on the new cool map and you won't receive any ill effects. If you do donate, you get the sense that you've helped out, even if it is only in some small degree.

BBS would be better at explaining it, but the power of the US dollar is declining, so by donating pounds, it is much more stable at the moment.
