How are spoils awarded?

[Q&A]
I am quite new to CC and have spent much time trying to understand how spoils are cashed in and that I do understand. But I have just realised I dont actually know how I receive them. Sure when I conquer a territory I get spoils but is it a 1 to one deal? In one game I got three territories in a single turn and received one spoil card.... Is it dependent on the number of troops killed? or is it only the first time a territory is taken that it awards spoils? Does the flat rate, escalting, etc option affect this?

head up my arse, please help

In every turn where you either conquer or bombard a territory you receive a spoil. This is not dependant on spoil type, amount of terriotries or number of troops.
You can cash in three spoils in the following combinations: 3x blue, 3x red, 3x green and 1 x blue + 1x red +1x green.

You can only get 1 Spoil each turn. To get it you need to conquer/bombard at least 1 region.

Spoils

Escalating sets are worth 4,6,8,10,12,15,20... (i.e. the first set of spoils turned in by any player is worth 4 troops, the second set is worth 6, etc.)

Flat Rate sets are worth 4 for red, 6 for green, 8 for blue and 10 for mixed.

Nuclear sets are not worth any troops. Instead, each region in the set is nuked to a single neutral troop (even if you own it!).

From instructions.
