A TPA5 PREMIER TOURNAMENT

UNIQUE AND FUN TOURNAMENT SCORING STRUCTURE

HIGHLIGHTS
- 32 Player Limit, Premium only, due to game load. My apologies.
- Minimum 21 Games
- Winner may play upwards of 58 games
- This tournament is comprised of Multi Player Escalating and 1v1 Games
- Featuring 45 predetermined maps that are intended to be less complicated
- No 12 Hour Fog Rule but I encourage you to be respectful in this regard

STRUCTURE
The 7 colors of a Rainbow are Red, Orange, Yellow, Green, Blue, Indigo and Violet. They will remain in that order for the duration of this tournament.

Rounds 1 through 6

Your initial goal is to collect all 7 colors for a FULL RAINBOW.
Acquire a Full Rainbow and advance to the Semi Finals.

You will have specific and limited opportunities to collect each of the 7 Colors of the Rainbow.
The Multi Player Escalating rounds are always 7 games per round. Each of those games is associated with one of the 7 Colors of the Rainbow. They will be clearly labeled. Win the game and you own the color that is associated with that game.

Pay attention! In later Terminator rounds, there are multiple ways to win the color in the same game.

The 1v1 Rounds are a little different. In Round 3 you play a Single Round Robin, playing each player in your group of 8. Each of those 7 games will be associated with one of the colors of the rainbow. It is important to note, that you are playing for a different color than your opponent, in the same game (The one exception is the color Green, which appears in the middle of the Rainbow. When you are playing for Green, your opponent is also playing for Green).

To determine which color you are playing for in each 1v1 game, follow this set of rules. All 8 players in each group will be listed 1 through 8. When you play the player that is one number higher than you, the color you are playing for is Red. If you are player number 8, then that would occur for you when you play player number 1. If you play a player that is two numbers higher than you, the color is Orange..........and so on through to Violet.

Round 5 is the other 1v1 round. However there are only 5 games in round 5. Those games will still be specifically designated for one color of the Rainbow. At the start of the round, I will eliminate two colors for each player. The colors I eliminate for each player will be two of the colors they already have acquired. If you do not have 2 colors then I will still have to eliminate 2, meaning you will not be able to acquire a FULL RAINBOW in round 5. If you have more than 2 colors entering Round 5, it will not matter which two I eliminate for you. Each player will have their 5 colors clearly identified in this thread, prior to the round starting. To determine which color is associated with each of your games, you will still take those five "live" colors in the same order as above, and use the same process as above except this time, when you play the player who is 1 above your group number, the color associated with the game will be the first one in your list of 5. That may not necessarily be Red.

Semi Finals

Your goal here is to simply finish in the top 4 in score as defined in the Scoring and Tie-Breaking Procedures.

Finals

Highest score wins the tournament.
SCORING/TIE-BREAKING/TPA RANKING - PROCEDURES
Rounds 1 through 6

What matters most is completing a FULL RAINBOW. To do so you must own one of each of the 7 different colors that can be won.

At the end of Rounds 3, 5 and 6 Players advance and players are eliminated using the following procedures:

- For rounds 3 and 5 Player Eliminations (for the purpose of this tournament) AND the TPA ranking; scoring will be determined by the number of different colors you own. Your score will be from 0 to 7. Ties will be broken using the Extra Colors. Some colors will be acquired more than once. When this occurs, the extra colors will be tabulated in one total (In reality, that represents actual game wins). Remaining ties at the cutoff mark will be settled by Tie-breaker games. All other tied and eliminated players, will simply be submitted as a tie; for the purpose of TPA rankings.

If we have more than 8 FULL RAINBOWS after Rounds 3, 4, 5 or 6, then the following criteria will be used to determine the 8 Semi Finalists:
1 - Fastest Full Rainbow first, using the Tournament Round it was acquired. Remaining tied players to #2.
2 - Most Extra Colors (equals game wins). Remaining tied players proceed to #3.
3 - All remaining ties will be broken through single tiebreaker games. A bracket will be created to accommodate the remaining tied players to play a single game single elimination tiebreaker, for the remaining available positions. For example if 4 players are tied for 3 positions, then 2 players will randomly advance while 2 others play a single game. I will have players advance using a random method, when all other methods have failed, but I won't have a player eliminated using this method.

All tiebreakers will be a single game played on the Classic Map with Escalating Spoils, Chained Reinforcements, Sunny, No Trench and 20 rounds.

In the event that we do not have 8 FULL RAINBOWS after Round 6, then the remaining qualifiers will be determined first looking at the different colors to determine your score out of 7. If players are tied I will then refer to the Extra Colors. If Still tied, the fastest (Tournament Round not Game Round) players to acquire their scores (Rainbow Score - 0-7 ) will prevail. After that, remaining ties will be broken by Tie-breaker games as per above.

Semi Finals

Score 5 points for each Terminator Win.
Score 1 point for each Termination providing you are not the winner.
Score 3 points for each 1v1 win.

Tie-breaker 1 will be to first eliminate any single points scored and then compare scores.
Tie-breaker 2 will be most total wins.
Tie-breaker 3 will be most 1v1 wins.
Tie-breaker 4 will be a single 1v1 Standard No Spoils Chained Sunny game on the Classic Map.

Finals

3 points per 4 Player Game Win.
1 point per termination providing you do not win the game.
2 points per 1v1 Game Win.

Tie-breaker - Same as for Semi Finals.
ROUND AND GAME FORMAT
- All games in this tournament will be Automatic and Sequential with 20 round limits.
- Other settings vary by round.
- All games for each round will be issued at one time.
- Some rounds may start before the previous rounds have fully completed.
- No Trench.

32 Players, Seeded by Score at the start of the tournament are divided into 4 groups of 8. These Groups will remain the same for the first 3 rounds of play. Players in each Group will be numbered from 1 through 8, for help in identifying the corresponding color associated with your 1v1 matches.

Round 1

Games will be 8 Players, Escalating, Unlimited Reinforcements, Sunny. Everyone will play 7 Games. The following maps will be used and as described in the Tournament Structure above, they are each associated with one of the Colors of the Rainbow:

Canada - Red
USA - Orange
Brazil - Yellow
Germany - Green
France - Blue
Africa - Indigo
Australia - Violet

As Round 1 winds down, I will start Round 2.

Round 2

Games will be 8 Player, Escalating, Chained Reinforcements with Fog. Everyone plays 7 games. Here are the maps and associated Colors of the Rainbow:

Europe - Red
Far East - Orange
First Nations North America - Yellow
Iberia - Green
Vancouver - Blue
Malta - Indigo
Middle East - Violet

As round 2 winds down, I will start round 3.

Round 3

1v1 Group Round Robin - Each player plays 7 Standard Games on the Ireland Map.
Settings are Flat Rate, Parachute, Sunny
Each game corresponds to a particular Color of the Rainbow.
As explained in the Structure above, that color is determined by your opponents Group Number.

After Round 3, players with a FULL RAINBOW will automatically advance to the Semi-Finals. The next highest 18 players by Tournament Score (see Scoring and Tie-breaking Procedures) will advance to Round 4. The remaining players will be eliminated and ranked by Tournament Score for TPA Scoring purposes (See TPA Tournament Ranking).

For Rounds 4 and 5, players are grouped into 3 groups of 6 players, seeded by Tournament Score.

Round 4 (How bad do ya want it?)

Games will be 6 Player, Terminator, Escalating, Sunny. Everyone will play 7 games.
Here is the caveat - In this round you can win the color by winning the game OR by being the first to make 2 eliminations in the game.
So are you desperate for that last color to complete the FULL RAINBOW? Here is your opportunity. It's virtually gift-wrapped!
2 different players may win a color for the same game.
If the first player to make two eliminations also wins the game, he will only receive one color award.
This is important because any duplicate colors you own have value (See Scoring and Tie-breaking Procedures).
Here are the Maps and Colors:

Italy - Red
San Marino - Orange
Soviet Union - Yellow
Antarctica - Green
California - Blue
First Nations South America - Indigo
Hong Kong - Violet

Round 5

1v1 Round Robin on the England Map. Settings will be Standard, No Spoils, Chained and Foggy. Everyone will play 5 games. Each game represents a different color (See Structure for details). This information will be clearly identified and updated in this thread and all game labels will contain identifying information.

At the end of Round 5 FULL RAINBOWS advance to the Semi Finals. If we have 8 or more, this will conclude the regular part of this tournament. If more than 8 Players have FULL RAINBOWS, the first 8 to acquire them will advance (See Scoring and Tie-Breaking Procedures).

If at the end of 5 Rounds of play, we do not have 8 FULL RAINBOWS, then we will play a 6th round. We are here to compete.

Round 6 (If Necessary)

Players are first divided into 2 groups of 5, seeded by Tournament Score.
Games will be 5 Player Escalating, Terminator, Parachute and Sunny. Everyone plays 7 games.
You also win the corresponding map color by making the first two kills in the game (same as Round 4).
Maps and Colors for Round 6 are:

Macedonia - Red
New Jersey - Orange
Philippines - Yellow
Portugal - Green
Iceland - Blue
British Isles - Indigo
Copenhagen - Violet

After Round 6 we will use the Scoring and Tie-breaking Procedures to finalize our 8 Semi Finalists.

MISSED INVITES
I am going to keep this one casual friendly but after missing the 2nd invite you are at my mercy.
For those who intentionally miss invites to gain the upper hand in fog games that do not have a 12 hour fog rule, be advised that this T.O. cancels and reissues fog games with missed invites so all players have to rejoin. While this may be a slight inconvenience to the non-offending players, it is done to ensure an advantage is not provided to a player missing invites.
semp you would be referring to my 99's Imaginary Psychedelic Rainbow Tourney. You are playing in that one right now but you just don't know it. That's the idea with that one, to ensure no one remembers it.
