When people report posts, they get banned instead of the person being reported
Specifics/Details:
Reporting a post is now treated as a forum infraction and punished accordingly
All other forum infractions are given an amnesty (with one exception - threads in sub-forums must still be relevant to that sub-forum)
How this will benefit the site and/or other comments:
Removes capacity for 'report button trolling' and resulting conflict
Encourages all users to toughen up
Lower workload for mods
Liberty, fraternity and egality
Profit

I'm most interested in the last bullet point, "Profit".
Care to elaborate how this results in profits?

yes, i literally would like to see this profit worked up into a power point or at least a pie chart or line graph... so, somehow, reporting of posts costs the site money? reporting misogyny, racism, forum violations, etc, somehow costs the site money? this makes no sense... please break this down so my simple mind can understand all your big brain think-a-ma-jigs... thank you...-Bj

I can't say this is the worst idea I've heard. I'd say about 80% of the reports I see are people complaining that they feel personally insulted by a post rather than it truly being against the rules, especially given that in general the mods take a much more relaxed stance on minor 'transgressions' than we did earlier in CC's history.

I heard rumours that this was true but it can't possibly be true ? If so it is very scary for the future of the site

Um... it's a Suggestion. I don't think you need to worry about it being implemented any time soon.
