do threads get deleted now instead of locked?

i cant seem to find a few...

like the one about pete going on and on about f*&$ and j#@$ and everthing else.

is this a thing now?

It probably got moved to the Trash Can.

That's because you know, there's no rule against mentioning the Trash Can.

What is there to interpret?
Mentioning the Trash Can does not:
Quote the contents of the forum elsewhere
Does not inform any user they are being mentioned there

So what exactly is the rule that's keeping you from mentioning the Trash Can?
