First time I have posted and I am a new player, but when I couldn't believe it when I ran across Conquer Club. The last time I played Risk in an online multi player format was in about 1990 on a Wildcat BBS and some Risk ripoff that didn't even have the countries named, I don't think. I like the sequential "play a day" atmosphere for Risk.

I used to play the same BBS Risk clone. It was called "Global Wars". I used to wake up early to take my turns before going to school.

Holy crap, I played a similar BBS-based game, where 'middle east' was Iraq and the cards were king queen jack instead of color-based...
anyway, welcome. Always nice to see more preexisting veterans join up.

That sounds right, and I too got up early before school and took my turns at Global Wars and Scrabble, which was another pretty popular BBS game back then.

Global Wars, Food Fight, Trade Wars, Big League Wrestling, Power $tocks, - I had them all for 4 years on my Multi-node, kickass Dual HST Emulex/2 BBS ... oh those were the days... back when Ultima V was NEW...
I am sure I still have these on my stored DAT tapes... along with all of my "elite" games.

Who would have thunk that your before school nerd activities would have turned you into a quadzillionaire?

5:30AM: Sneak into living room and boot up my 286sx Tandy with two 20MB hard drives...
5:34AM: System booted into DOS, connect to Wildcat BBS at 1200 baud (2400 baud modem, but got a lot better efficiency when connected at 1200)
5:37AM: Stare in amazement at Wildcat splash screen advertising 56K support
5:37AM: Pine for a 9600 baud modem and wonder what in the hell anyone would need with a 56K baud modem
5:40AM: Mostly text and RGB colors loaded, start playing Global War
5:45AM: Global War done, play scrabble turn
5:50AM: Daily turns complete, go get in shower
