Welcome to the 2023 version of my Swiss Series! Rules will be the same as last year's competitions.

Past Swiss Series Tournaments
2022 Doodle Earth | Winner: molespe | https://www.conquerclub.com/forum/viewt ... p?t=238144
2022 Ireland | Winner: shoop76 | https://www.conquerclub.com/forum/viewt ... p?t=238145
2022 Random Challenge | Winner: osujacket | https://www.conquerclub.com/forum/viewt ... p?t=238146

All games will be 1v1 (excluding possible tiebreakers before the playoffs that could maybe include 3-or-more-player games).

This tournament will be open for registration until the 14th of July (unless we get fewer than 16 players - then we wait a bit more until we have the minimum number of participants to start).

The Swiss Series tournaments are composed of two parts: swiss rounds and playoffs. All players will play four rounds (five, if there are between 17 and 32 players; six, if there are between 33 and 64 players, etc.) Down below, I will explain better how the Swiss Rounds work.

The top player qualifies directly for the Semi finals. The 2nd to 6th place qualify for the quarter finals. The 7th to 10th place qualify for the Wildcard rounds. The 11th to 16th are eliminated.

Rules
- Round limit 20; Escalating Spoils; Chained Reinforcements; No special gameplay.

Swiss rounds explanation + points per win/loss
Spoiler
There are several variations in Swiss-style tournaments. The variation I will use is a very simple one. In the first round, players are randomly seeded. The two possible results are 3-0 or 2-1, therefore, who wins 3-0 gets 3 points, who wins 2-1 gets 2 points, who loses 2-1 gets 1 point, and who loses 3-0 gets 0 points. For the 2nd, 3rd, 4th, and 5th rounds, the 1st placed player will play 2nd placed player, 3rd-4th, 5th-6th, 7th-8th, and so on. However, games cannot be repeated in Swiss rounds. If in the 4th round the 1st placed player already played the 2nd placed player, they will be matched with the 3rd placed. If there is an odd number of participants, every round the last placed player will receive a bye, resulting in a 3-0 win. No player can receive more than one bye during the league stage. So, if the last placed player already had a bye, the second to last player will receive that bye. And so on. Practical example: Imagine that after the first round Player A, B, and C have 3 points, and player D, E, and F have 2 points. The second round will have the following games: Player A Vs Player B, Player C Vs Player D, and Player E Vs Player F.
In the event of having over 20 players, the playoffs will be expanded to include more players. TBD when registration closes.

If you miss the first and the second invitation for the games without justification, you will lose the match 3-0.

I hope everybody has a great tournament! Good luck!

Yeah, you're in! We have 18 players. It's a good number.

And we already passed the deadline and I didn't notice! Tournament full and ready to start!

The tournament is ready to start. Since we have over 16 players and under 33, there will be five rounds before the playoffs. Good luck!
