Teams Tournament with Team Owner/Manager

I just thought of this idea today, and I wanted to see what everyone thought of it.
For each "team" there would be two roles:
-Owner: The person who runs the team. He/she would NOT play in any games, but would handle who would be accepted on the team, and basically assemble a roster of players. However, there would be a limit of how many total points (as in scoreboard points) a team could have in total. They would also be involved in the "transfer market."
-Player: These are the actual players on the team, they would each play their own separate 1v1 game, as well as one quadruples game. For the idea I have, there would be 4 starting players in each team as well as bench players.
And the teams would compete in a league. I would think 6-8 teams would be good for a 1st season. What do you think? Again this is just a new rough concept I had.

its different, but i dont know how popular it would be, very few players wana be involved in a tournament without playing games

I really like this idea

That's all I have to say really

Oh, and I think that if you have an idea about a new tournament then you should use the sticky at the top of the page for ideas.

Yes but that thread is for ideas for others to use. I want to do this one.

What you should do is open to a manager and 2 to 5 players in his team.

The problem is that if there is a manager picking teams, that would be considered a private tournament. The best way around that would be to hold open sign-ups with the managers picking their teams from the players who "enroll". You may or may not have been thinking that already, but I felt like clarifying that for you.

Can you rephrase that?
I guess I could make the manager play and run the team, but then 3 other starting players, as well as bench players.

I could do that. Maybe have a draft of players who join?

I left out "it".

Ironically, that makes it make much more sense to me.

Given that there are only 20ish threads in this forum to begin with I would rather have him post inside of one than create a new one.

Good to see that this has some good support. I'll start this once USL 1st Division is done.

This idea is very similar to the Brigade Commander tournament I'm currently organizing, but for the different sport vs. military analogy. The concept of the brigade was to form 4-player fighting units with a senior officer that would then go head to head in matches on either a home or foreign "battlefield" map/settings. If the brigade lost a match, the commander would then be in charge of reorganizing the Brigade (i.e., determining who was going to get eliminated). Sign up has been going on for maybe it seems like a month, and I'm still not at the 1/2 mark.
One thing, to make it public, I have it organized around 16 brigades, so that would have qualified as a public tournament under the old rules where all you needed was to have 8 public spots I think (from some posts I have). Now that it's a 50% "open" rule, it'll probably still qualify technically because a lot of people are signing up with 2-3 people on a team, and picking up singles who signed up as mercenaries, so I think it can be done.
** Begin Shameless Plug: *** But why go through the trouble of starting another tournament when you can join the Brigade Commender Tournament!!! We still need 39 players

I've figured out a solution for the manager. His game will only count half as much as the other players.
USL-1 Tournament is about a month away from finishing so I can start registering soon.
