I also realize that sometimes you can't make it to a computer, or the computer won't cooperate, but that is why you either, get an account sitter, or go to another computer. Even when the computer is down you shouldn't miss a turn, on the fastest game a 1 v 1 you still have more than 24 hours, thats 1440 minutes or 86,400 seconds to do your turn.

This site is not really a friendly place for new users. High ranking people who come in and farm their points on maps they don't know is one reason they might not show in your game... it might not have been your game, but it could have been in another game they started. Or they could have just been casually poking around and lost interest. Either way, playing noobs is not a great idea. The problem is that because of the point structure, a noob has more points than a veteran cadet. So you have to choose between someone who you know is more likely to show, and who is not just a multi of someone senior rank who got banned, and getting fewer points.
So we get back to fixing the point system....

you shouldn't be kicked from a game unless you miss 5 turns. this should help motivate you to find $25 and fix the problem you are having.

well the dude im playing only started one game vs. me and he isn't playing any other games which is lame. I mean ill take the 13 points he is going to hand over to me but it isn't fun. I want to kick noob butt the official way, by slaughtering them i mean welcoming them with open arms.

This site is plenty friendly for new users. There is nothing obnoxious about the interface. The rules should be relatively familiar to the people that find their way here.
That being said, this place isn't friendly to people with ADD (ADHD, whatever), little patience, the inabilty to click on instructions, or the illiterate. Instead of fixing the point system we need this site to dispense ritalin, profess the virtues of GTD, make the entire homepage a link to instructions and teach the fundamentals of the English language.

Yes! As a new user, I am having a terrible time with games. Most times I try a new map, someone joins and abuses the quick the way to bonuses or whatever other map trick, and I end up at dead in the water one or two turns in. Since this site doesn't allow me to leave, I am stuck waiting for someone to mop up my units.
And yes, I do read all the rules and map bonuses and such, but still, it is very difficult to predict how these will handle. I would like to be able to try to develop my skills, rather than getting anhiliated by map tricks I don't know.
And yes, I do pay for the site. Still, I am tired of the difficulty in getting started with games, and although I am trying to finish them, there are many I would LOVE to just ignore.

Theres the
Society of the Cooks. Granted the focus is on Classic but the members there would more than likely be happy to teach you on a variety of maps/settings.
