The perfect season

This time last year we were all wondering whether the Patriots could pull off the perfect season. Well, they did...at least in the regular season and up until the Super Bowl. This season we are faced with a different question.

The Detroit Lions have currently been perfect...perfectly horrible. They have a chance to do what no other team has done since the 1976 Tampa Bay Buccaneers - to go an entire season without a single victory.

So my question to Conquer Club is this...can the Lions pull off the perfect season or will they screw up and actually win a game? If they do pull off a victory who will it be against and who will be the knucklehead(s) who ruin everything for us?

Remaining schedule for Detroit:

Nov. 16: Lions @ Carolina Panthers
Nov. 23: Tampa Bay Bucs @ Lions
Nov. 27: Tennessee Titans @ Lions
Dec. 7: Minnesota Vikings @ Lions
Dec. 14: Lions @ Indianapolis Colts
Dec. 21: New Orleans Saints @ Lions
Dec. 28: Lions @ Green Bay Packers

Easily. I think this is our year.

I could see them losing to New Orleans, maybe Minnesota or Green Bay. It isn't exactly the easiest part of their season coming up...

Just watch them lose every game but the one against Tennessee. It will simultaneously ruin two perfect seasons.

Didn't even think of that scenario playing out...perhaps it's an NFL conspiracy so that we'll all watch!

I think yes maybe, but usually a bad team had some kinda breakthrough game. the dolphins did last year, look at them now (5-4). If they do win, it'll be against the Vikings or Saints i bet

Of course we all know that the NFL is rigged and pro wrestling is real.

I saw the title, then the author, and without looking I knew this would be about the Detroit Lions.

In 2001, the Lions were 0-12 going into the 13th game, which was at home against the Minnesota Vikings. It's the only game I've ever attended. My Dad and I were rooting for a Lions loss, because we wanted to see the perfect season that year. Daunte Culpepper was the QB for the Vikes. Detroit would end up winning that game (touching of a celebration in the stands, strangers hugging, going crazy, like we'd just won something big) and finished the season 2-14.

This year, the thirteenth game of the year is a home game. Against the Minnesota Vikings. And Culpepper is now with Detroit. I'm going to bet the Lions get their first and only win of the year against Minnesota. Maybe I'll even try to get tickets.

I was getting a little nervous when Detroit scored in the 4th quarter, but they did manage to finally let Carolina take it.

Carolina - 31
Detroit - 22

The quest for perfection is still alive.

Serbia, are you ready to call for Matt Millen's return yet?

Yeah, Millen could totally turn this around!

I'm ignoring them, and watching the Red Wings... a 4-0 victory with Conklin in the net.

I think Detroit has a better chance for the perfect season than Tennessee,
but a break in the streak could come against Tampa Bay or Minnesota...
unless Adrian Peterson chooses Dec. 7th to rush for 300 yards.

Of course the other possibility is the Lions giving the Titans their only regular season loss.

Like I said earlier, it's usually the game you really aren't supposed to lose. Or I guess in this case win.

And suddenly, only one team has a chance for the mythic perfect season.

Detroit, a nation turns its lonely eyes to you.

Poor Detroit, started with a 17-0 lead before imploding.

Who were the Detroit players trying to ruin this glorious run by scoring? I WANT NAMES!!

Off to another quick start with a great first quarter... the Lions are such a tease.

I voted for Serbia being a loyal Detroit fan.

I'm glad I'm in Little Rock today, they have NOTHING about the Lions on (except that they'll be fodder for an angry Tennessee team next week on CBS). Although my Dad tells me they were blacked out back home anyway. Lucky Detroit fans!

Titan - 47
Lions - 10

I'll bet lots of people lost $$ yesterday due to the fact that the Titans didn't cover the 70 point spread. (jk Serbia)

Minnesota, it's up to you now to keep the streak alive. InsomniaRed, if you guys don't come through for the rest of us......

Luns, I was openly rooting all week for Tennessee to score 50. I'm slightly disappointed they didn't get it.

But I'm still going with my "Minnesota is the team they'll beat" theory. It's their last chance for a win, I say.

Again my Loins are the punchline to a dismal season. Not so long ago I found I could not even watch Jay Leno on a Monday night. For weeks Jay would crush my Lions with his humor. Now I come to the forum in hopes of forgetting that Sunday will be full of pain. What do i find? Right here it is, A poll on my beloved team. True Lion fans bleed silver&blue. So once again I'll watch in hopes of this week being the one. The one victory that shows there is hope even if its only for next season.

If you guys could do it this week that would be nice. Otherwise the Bears are pretty much out of it.
