Is there a God?

There is a simple reason to why people believe in god, And thoose who doesn't understand that are either retards or just not trying hard enough. It's because we have a primitive need for it. Beleive in gods used to be important when we lived as hunters and gatherers. We needed to have something to hold on to when our lives looked tough. We will still have this need for thousands of years to come though! Because until our dna change, we wont change!
A lot of people today don't need religion! And it's not a coincident that thoose people more often than not live in the rich parts of the world. For the first time in human history, non-believe (atheism) is the greates single life stance people have. That to me says that we have it better today then we ever had before. No suffering, No desire, No religion. They go hand in hand! If anything should be said to try to convince religious people to why they are wrong (if you would like take that conversation with them (I wouldn't)) the best argument would probably be: Everywhere in the world there are different religions, how would you know wich is right? However you bend it you can't help to come to the conclusion that the wast majority of all religious people beleive in something that is only in there heads!

Some would answer your question with "yes", others with "no".
So far the two groups have not been able to reach a consensus.

Most of the two groups do agree that scientologists are dicks.
For some reason.

Thank you for posting this because I agree with you on most of what you said. First off what I agree with.

This is the absolute truth. It is in our DNA to want God, to need God and to seek God. Take a look at this.
18 For the wrath of God is revealed from heaven against all ungodliness and unrighteousness of men who suppress the truth in unrighteousness,
19
because that which is known about God is evident within them; for God made it evident to them.20 For since the creation of the world His invisible attributes, His eternal power and divine nature, have been clearly seen, being understood through what has been made, so that they are without excuse.
21 For even though they knew God, they did not honor Him as God or give thanks, but they became futile in their speculations, and their foolish heart was darkened.
22 Professing to be wise, they became fools,
-
Romans 1:18-22
As you can clearly see, God says that it is God himself who placed this need, want and desire for us to know him in our DNA from the creation of the world so that we could find him and know him and discover the great love that he has. And should we decide not to go that route and deny him and deny that God exists, um, well, you can read the rest about what God himself says.

What does that (part in bold) even mean? What I mean, and I will type slowly for you so you can catch what I am asking. You stated, "For the first time in human history, non-believe (atheism) is the greates[t] single life stance people have." My question is what makes you think that atheism is new? Or that it is suddenly a "life stance" that people are choosing? Take a look through history, people have been choosing atheism for some time and they have been a sizable group. A misguided group, but a sizable one. Just take a look at what
Wikipedia says. And you can even see them referenced in the Bible.
4 The wicked, in the haughtiness of his countenance, does not seek Him All his thoughts are, "There is no God."
-
Psalm 10:4
So, I don't see your point. Especially since it is not like suddenly there has been a large rise in people "Joining" the belief/non-belief.

um, wow. This was really poorly written. The author is from sweeden though, maybe that explains the grammar. Argurment didn't really flow that well either. Some of the responses were kind of illiterate too. I didn't read the last one, it was kind of long and it looked like the guy was quoting the bible. I'm not sure which side he was on, and don't really care.
I guess what I really want to say is this, if your going to try and convince people that their religion is stupid then you should really put together a better argument. The DNA thing seem out of place too, kind of randomly thrown in there though not necessarily related.
In closing, I agree with most of the comments, I just have two problems. First, as luns said these arguments aren't particularly new, and second the argument was not made in a convincing way.
Edit: Ok, after reading my post I realized that it might not be obvious which side I'm on. I agree with the original post, I do think that the more fanatical religious people are stupid. Some of the more mild ones were probably just born into it. I also agree that poor people need religion more too, also people who were abused or unloved as kids or abused. It's kind of like those commercials for what kind of kids join gangs, those same kind of kids join religions, : ).
Anyway, I guess I spent so much time critiquing the post that I didn't really add my comments in, so that's why I'm putting this now.

What do you mean,
"I don't believe in God"?
I talk to him everyday.
What do you mean,
"I don't support your system"?
I go to court when I have to.
What do you mean,
"I can't get to work on time"?
I got nothing better to do.
And, what do you mean,
"I don't pay my bills"?
Why do you think I'm broke? Huh?
If there is the new way,
I'll be the first in line.
But, it better work this time.
What do you mean,
"I hurt your feelings"?
I didn't know you had any feelings.
What do you mean,
"I ain't kind"?
I'm just not your kind.
What do you mean,
"I couldn't be president of the U.S.A."?
Tell me something, it's still....We the people,"right?
Peace Sells...Nobody is buying, just live your life as it is now, ...when you die you will know if there is a heaven or a hell, I think if you be kind to others ...one day when you need help ,others will help you, so just f,uckin be good

This is what you are teached in junior high in Sweden, and if you read some scientific related papers they may talk about things like this. I can't believe this kind of information is questioned in the U.S, 90% of the people in Sweden would agree with this statement instantly
But the U.S has a lot of ground to make up on this area, I just hope that in some time in the future, the American goverment will take action to tell people how the world really is created, and get people of the thoughts of dependency of a supernatural force!

Thats the big difference between American people and European in general, our lifestyle is pretty similar, but Religion is the big issue, I for an exampel have never been in church on a sunday (not even once), How many Americans have done that, almost everyone!

No it doesn't! 75% is paying taxes to the church, but we pay taxes for everything here! And it's not comparable to how many who actually are religious, nor goes to church, Only old people goes to church in Sweden, haven't met one single person under 40 who goes to church on a regular basis! About 90% of swedens population is ateists.
But only a few of procent of the cristians in this country goes to church. The number of active Cristians and active Muslims is probably even here. and it's not over a halfmillion total. This include, Cristians and Muslims. But then you also need to know that about 10% of our population is imigrants from the middleast.
This may sound impossible but it's actually true. 1 not to big town in Sweden received alone as many refugees from the middleast, as the entire U.S. The U.S is known for it's multiculture! but refugees from the middleast is not something it's good at receiving.

Just because he hasn't come doesn't mean he isn't. Perhaps he is just waiting long enough to give you a chance to come and get to know him first because, after all, he is all about love and the last thing he would want is for you to wind up in hell. You
