Are you experienced on a certain map? Has anybody ever asked you for your strategical advice? Do you enjoy helping others become better players?
If you’ve answered yes to any of these questions then the
Strategy Guides Ad-Hoc Group is the place for you!
Here are a few things you will get to help write guides for:
- Game Types
- Play Orders
- Spoils
- Reinforcements
- Visability
- Maps
Oh, and did I mention you’ll be rewarded for your service? Gimil has graciously dipped into his own pocket to provide an incentive for those who would like to help.
If you are interested (or have questions) please contact me,
The Fuzzy Pengui, or
Gimil (although he is on vacation until later this week).

We have now started adding intrested members to the group! There is still plenty of space if anyone else is intrested!

I believe it will be made public after we get some more writing done, and a lot more editing.

Yeah it has, let me add you to the group

(I thought that was already done).
And Havatcha, it's just started, so it could be a while before it's public. The more help we get, the quicker we'll have it out!

Would adding you to the group give you the motivation you need?

I could theoretically write one for World 2.1 1v1 and doubles....and probably trips and quads..but wont argue that..
It would be tough to share my exact dubs strategy... many do the same thing...but not all. I dont think I can part with it...
The 1v1 is easy though...it would be a long guide though...

AAFitz wrote:The 1v1 is easy though...it would be a long guide though...
Long? I play a lot of 1v1 and what it usually boils down to, on most nonconquest maps, is not terribly long.
-Go first
-Get a good drop
-Get good dice
All entirely skill-based, to be sure

*edit* As for me writing a guide, I suppose I could do Feudal (1v1 or 4-6 player Esc) or Arms Race. I know there's that select few people who could murder me on Feudal (
very few

) so I probably wouldn't be the best teacher for that....but I don't know of too many specializing in Arms Race...

I play a lot of 2 player games, and I'll consistently beat players who get any two out of those three (especially on World 2.1). A beginner's guide doesn't need to be long though. Maybe I'll go write one right now.

I'd be very interested in getting a few useful tips from some of the 'professionals' around here. I don't get to play a lot and tend to stick to clear, geographic maps with relatively simple themes. I am sure there are general principles which apply to most games but although I've had some success, so far it's all been based on gut instinct.
I am a chess player and therefore know the value of understanding basic theory.
Any help would be greatly appreciated. And if there's a group I need to be a member of in order to get help, pleased add me!

I've written drafts for about 5 maps today and plan on doing a few more tonight as well. It doesn't take much time to write up a few strategy tips about maps and settings you play a lot and I'd recommend any keen CC player to write up a few strategy guides for their favourite maps or comment what I've written. It is fun to take a break from playing and just write about how to play.

Indeed, lets get some more people in there! Lots of maps and settings left to talk about.
