Do you think that YOUR rank is a good measure of your skill?

I do not think that rank is anywhere near an accurate measure of skill, but I find that my rank has always been dependent solely on the types of games I play, and thus accurately measures my skill in the games I play.

But I know a lot of people who think that their score should be higher or lower etc. Interested in seeing what people think.

I'd like to think I can get one rank more, and become Brigadier. And I wasn't that far away at one point. After a poor run of games I've been close to losing out on Colonel for a little while now, though, so I don't know.

I'd say Colonel is pretty accurate. If I can iron out some of the more silly mistakes I make, I reckon I can make Brigadier eventually.

Does that including killing your teammates in a no cards game? ;)

Yep, that's right. There may be some type of games where you don't bet too many points like terminator, so your rank would keep stable... But what about the thrill of joining an scalating bonus system with 8 players... 2 of them cooks?.... Yeah...

The rank, at least i have, is very dependent on what type of games i play.

If i play Speed, then i'm quite easy a Brigadier

If i don't play speed, then it's pretty much only tournament games. Where i belive i'd be Major/Colonel.

So.. on average, i do belive my Rank shows my skill.

But i don't think that rank matters much to show skill, if i go down to like 1500 after playing some Doodle assassins for example, then i'm not a worse player just because i dropped 1000 points.

when i see some of the players ranked above me play i KNOW i am better than them. however, i'm thinking its more them that inflated their ranks than mine being too low. that said, i am sure i CAN achieve a higher rank... i always start strong and then stop halfway through because something else is going on...

Yes, that would be the sort of thing I'd be looking to remove from my game :P

To be fair, the game was already over, and I doubt I'd have managed to do it if it wasn't. I hope :-$

I think my rank is relatively close to where I feel I should be right now... On that major/high captain level. But I also enjoy playing games which bombard my rank from time to time (dropping me down to sarge or lower). So I don't consistently stay were I should be, but thats what happens when I play the games I enjoy, even if that means major point losses.

Fairly sure I can get up past 2,500 playing mainly singles. After that, it would be to trips. Very much doubt I would get up to 3,000. Then back to singles (which I much prefer) and and try and maintain colonel.

I think whether rank reflects skill would be quite dependent on whether you dominate the board in games and what kinds of ranks you are playing against. If you're captain and doing well in major/captain/lieutenant games then you are probably better than your rank. If your score rise has halted when you've been playing your best style of game I would guess you've reached your level.

I think mine is fairly accurate of my skill level. There are plenty of players who are much better than I at this game and plenty who are not as good. I have a tendancy to make silly mistakes and to rush through things sometimes which is reflected in my rank. I'm sure if rank was that important to me I'd get it higher by playing the types of games I am better at but rather than being a one trick pony I prefer to play all settings on all maps to keep me interested. That's not what everyone wants and that's OK too.

My rank simply shows the kind of games I'm playing...If I throw in a few team games and join 1v1 casual freestyle games as player 2, etc. I can easily be a Colonel...if I dick about like atm, I can be a striper or lower...if I stick to assdoodle games and that kinda thing I am around a captain

What would you classify as the same "kinda thing" as assdoodle? Just freestyle, speed assassin games on small maps, or are there other settings you consider similar?

Depends on what you mean by "skill"... some people are good players all around and some excel at a certain game type. Despite my recent losing streak I am usually a major, and I play just about every game type. But I suspect that I'd be higher than many above me if they played a variety of styles too. :P

for me, that kinda thing is Assassin games on small maps and 1v1 games on maps like doodle earth which rely on luck.

no.. i think i could be higher, especially if i took my time on games and really put some effort into it.

often times i know the right move to make, but in a hurry i just rush through a turn and make a cop out deploy and leave it up to a teammate or make a very neutral turn.. sometimes these moves could cost me a game....

i dont regret making them though, id rather make a shitty move with my armies (most of the time) than miss a turn

Nope. My score is a measure of what I want it to be. I adjust it by the types of games that I play.

Not to say that the higher numbers are not work obviously, but do not indicate any more skill on my part, just different types of games.

I dont care about my score. its more fun to just play than playing to maintain a score.
