Suggestions for spotting multis?

I like the idea that this site polices itself, but I wonder how I would recognize a multi. I wouldn't want to accuse someone unfairly, but I have encountered a "New Recruit" whose early successes and game chat might indicate someone with much more experience.

It's a good question. What you have to take into account is that Conquerclub is not an exclusive "Risk'' concept. While being probably "the'' best site on which to play it, there are others. I've just played (well, playing, but the game's over by this point) a game against a player named "Arioch" It's his first game. I took an african country the first round, and set up to take it the 2nd, He didn't go for SA... Australia, easily enough, he went for NA and took it with unimaginable dice and forted very effectively given the No limit forting.

He plays very well and doesn't let the dice go to waste when NA is his. Is it possible that he's a multi? No more so than anyone else who joins that day.

What it comes down to is that people can play good because of playing with friends, having the board-game themselves for a period of time, having studied the game or having played at any number of other sites.

There is a very big frustration that comes with losing to a new player. The first instinct is to assume that it's not their first time. Very likely it's not. But on CC it very well could be.

A new player on CC could have been playing risk for 20 years at other sites or on the board itself. Now... a player who's never played the game at all... or has only ever remotely heard of it and not been interested, you'd find that they'd not be likely to win their first game on CC. Then dice come into effect. Anyone can win if they attack attack attack on the first round and win their 3vs3s with 2 to spare everytime. It's all possible.

This is why more proof is needed. Look for a pattern. Look for a string of games. Sometimes see what their chat is like.

"gg" does not mean the person is a cheater either. It's online etiquette in alot of games. Empire Total War... Rome total war... risk... Chess... "gg" or "gl,hf" (goodluck have fun) are regular online etiquette.

Look for a pattern. I think alot of multi bustings could be lucky. When I see how often people are rightfully cleared, I am no longer surprised to see the original accuser simply answer: "Well... it's what I thought, there was a chance so I reported it."

People need to realize that every new applicant has as much of a chance as being legit as they do of being another account from a pre-existing member. By those standards, a new player who wins often gets stuck in a tough spot.

Sorry for putting this in the wrong spot initially. I was thinking that the Multi hunters who moderate C & A would be more likely to see this topic there and they seemed like the ones who could give the best answer.

Thanks for your reply, Icon. I wasn't concerned that this New Recruit beat me, because he didn't. I'm pretty new here myself, so I don't expect to steamroll through games. I was more concerned by the fact that when I commented that I had played a particular map a few times and that I liked it, he said "yeah, me too". But there were no such games in his history. There were quite a few games with a respectable win/loss record, including some where a familiarity with an optimal strategy for that map seemed to be in play. It seemed odd that a noob would be that clued in to something specific to the site, but the chat in those games seemed normal enough, so I guess I will stand down for now.
