Clinton comes back with Laura Ling and Euna Lee.

Suck on that, you capitalist assholes. Talking actually works sometimes.

If you think that this is some great victory, you're mistaken.

Sure it's great that they get to come home, but the real problems with North Korea have not been addressed.

Every threat they presented still exists, and all of the injustices that the reporters wanted to show the world still exist, but this is going to be spun into a political victory for those who are in a position to address the real problems but choose not to.

The danger here is that this course of events will distract the public from the real and legitimate issues of North Korea's nuclear program and their totalitarian dictatorship and will present Kim Jung Il in a positive light while he continues to militarize.

I guess my question would be what did President Clinton have to promise to North Korea in order to secure this release? I believe there is a rumor that he traded something on behalf of the United States. And, as most of us know, trading something for something else can be considered capitalism.

If your talking about appeasement, well it stopped the Nazis from winning the Battle of Britain so it was a good decision imo.

yeah, I mean it's not like maybe they can now be addressed without having to say "well, sucks that they were executed by north korea".

The release of the detained reporters has served as a distraction from the crimes which they were there to report.

How did Chamberlain stop Operation Sealion? Do tell because I thought it was the brave British pilots and itelligence agents that cracked the German code. And don't forget about Churchill keeping the spirit of the people up during the battle.

Which is why we need to end sarcastic sentences with "/sarcasm".

Anyways, it is wonderful that those reporters have been released, but it is only a large victory in PR terms. I am of the opinion that at this point, talking won't change jack in the grander scale. You think that after all of the talking that has been going on with N. Korea, that they are going to cease their nuclear weapons programs, or improve human rights? Kim Jong-Il will not let that happen, he owns N. Korea, and will not be deposed through any means other than force. And that sure as hell isn't coming from the N. Koreans.

Edit: And Inkl0sed, before you call me an imperialist war mongering nationalist predator, I am a pragmatic communist, and a realist.
