Well, it took me some 5 hours straight, but I managed to make a presentable small version.

Images with army numbers have also been prepared.

This is really coming together. I really like the new stations, and the legend looks great.

On the small map with the '888'. Kirov both the name and numbers will need to be moved. I suggest to move the territory name Kirov (not the station) down and place it even with the station name, and move the number up above the station number. this will prevent any overlapping of the army numbers when people use the color code. Also Amur, move that name down to just below the tracks and move the number up so that it is out of the way of Tynda's army number. Again to prevent any possible overlapping of the numbers.

Other than these two small things, I'd say let's sticky this and move on!

I don't think 4 digits are required to be visible. Last I checked the guidelines only require that 888:s are... The situation that someone uses colour codes, on the small map, and has 3-digit armies on both of those territories seems to me to not be so common that I should specifically make exceptions for such an occurence. In such a situation, a player can just turn colour codes off for a while.

That's my view on it anyway... if the graphics mods feel that this is an issue, then I'll figure something out I guess...

Ok, as a compromise I did tweak them a bit... I think, in the rare situation when 4 digits are on those territories, they should be able to discern the troop amounts with small effort now.

Okay I'm satisfied now. It should be fine, like you said it would be rare but I would rather make sure now rather than later.

I had a quick chat with Red about this map. Most everything looks good, though the word Kamchatka on the small map has a mysterious dot over it. The rails could afford to be darker on the small map, they kind of get lost in the image. And shouldn't the rail go though the Great Wall, as opposed to over it (small map)?

Red made some mention of a strange beveled border on the very edges of the map... its sort of inconsistent, like where Russia has a black line where it runs off the map and nowhere else does. Can you shed any light on this? What's causing it?

And the last thing, has this image been checked on vischeck?

Beauty mark ;) I'm aware of this and it will be fixed. I was just waiting if there's other feedback so I can do it all at once.

Such as this. Will do.

Industrial Helix wrote:And shouldn't the rail go though the Great Wall, as opposed to over it

Yes, I redrew the rail for the small map but I forgot to erase the part where it goes under the wall like on the large map. I'll fix this too.

Ah, I see it now. It's a stray artifact from some of the selection strokes I've done. I'll have to track down the layer and remove those.

Industrial Helix wrote:And the last thing, has this image been checked on vischeck?

It has been checked with GIMP's display filters, which are better because you can see the image in full size. I do this with all of my maps these days.

In addition, this map has been also checked by an actual colourblind person.

I'll do the fixes and post updates soon.

West and East russia look a bit similar on Prot., but I think the bonus names "west" and "east" are enough distinction in that case... ;)

Yeah, color blind looks good. Everything looks good to me... I'll have Red go over it once and we'll get this guy to play.

For some reason the large map looks a bit blurry... but that could be because it's well-past my bedtime?

Only on the territory lines, but I see it too. It doesn't bother me though.

There is a couple of little things that was brought up to me. First the stations in the legend, can you space them a little further apart so they don't seem like they are squished together?

Fonts: You seem to have 2 different fonts in the legend. 1 for the abbreviations and 1 for everything else.
Station bonuses: You have the abbreviation for Vladivostok, but you don't have it with the other abbreviations.
The mountains seem to have a metallic look to them, maybe subdue them a bit?

As for now this is all, so we look forward to your next update.

After some discussion with MrBenn and the nobodies80, we have have agreed that this map can go supersize up to 890x800 for the large and 670x600 for the small. This is only to allow for more of Kamchatka to be in the map and to reduce some of the cluttered feeling down the right side. So natty if you can do this we can get this done and into the FF if there aren't any other concerns! Enjoy!!
