It's not like I bear any personal ill will toward Ilitch (save for the annoying commercials for his pizza chain). He did pump a lot of money into the team to pull them out of the Dead Wings era, and those late 90's early 00's teams were just death. But I hear these things about borderline-absurd prices for playoff tickets, and it just sounds like greed. When you start pricing your fans out of big games, you're going to suffer. And now the Tigers have their act together again (finally), and the Pistons are badass, and the Lions... well, the Lions continue to be a franchise in the NFL.

Eh, that Hockeytown thing always felt like a bit of a gimmick. Shouldn't Montreal be Hockeytown?

You might not have heard of our protest march back in '05 against Millen. Millen and the Fords might be the most hated people in Detroit. Ilitch with his ticket prices... yeah, you can say it's greed, a business man might say they just overestimated intrest versus the willingness to pay. Lower prices for the Wings, raise them for the Tigers, and he'd sell more hockey tickets, and probably just as many baseball tickets. Something old, something new.

Oh and I hate his pizza commercials too, I thought maybe they were only local. Poor rest of the country.

And I agree, Montreal should be Hockeytown, I've always felt that way. Canada lives and dies hockey, but, trademarks are trademarks.

Was that the big protest thing where everyone dressed in black and orange and cheered for the Bengals? That was ten different kinds of funny... but hell, at least you guys actually HAVE a football team, unlike a certain Californian metropolis that shall remain nameless...

I always have been a huge fan of hockey (GO AVS!). But the lockout just threw off my whole equilibrium. Whenever I talk about certain players, I keep thinking that they're with their old teams. This can incredibly annoying.....

But as Serbia said, that novelty bit just got f'd up the A. Hence, not as many fans.

But the part that pisses me off even more is that the only station that airs playoffs (Versus, i believe), I don't even get.

Fuckin ESPN not airing hockey anymore....

Don't forget to give props to the pens. OK, don't give props to the pens. I would have been happier if they moved to KC.

I wished that they just forgot the money and played hockey. I played hockey (yet even if I was not payed) and I found pride in just being out there, except when I dislocated my shoulder, that was bad, but I got over it.

Originally from Michigan, I live in Denver now and I LOVE to give my Avs friends $h!t about hockey. When the playoffs started I asked "so when is the Avalanche's first playoff game? is it Saturday?" They look puzzled. Then I say "oh, wait, I forgot. They didn't make the playoffs!"

Now the Wings have a 2-1 lead on the Yucks with a 5-0 SHUTOUT!!! =D>

Yeah, I don't get Versus either, which means I had to leave the house and watch the game elsewhere.

That said.... 5-0 Wings? Are you kidding me?! What a game! I give all the credit to Coach Babcock. Took Calder out (we're convinced he's got a broken hand), mixed up the lines (seperated Datsyuk and Zetterberg), which threw off Carlylse's matchups. Bertuzzi had maybe his best game of the playoffs. I also say Pronger should have been booted, not Rob Neidermeyer. That was a suspension-level hit he layed on Holmstrom. I really wanted to see Bertuzzi fight Pronger after that, wasn't going to happen. Oh well...

All in all, it's only 2-1, someone had to be up after 3, and it's Detroit. Game 4 is Thursday, can't be this easy again for Detroit.

I agree Pronger should have gotten the penalty, although they BOTH did the same thing and went after Holmstrom's head rather than the puck. Not cool.

True...

And how cool is it that Holmstrom is finally getting his due? He'll never be a "superstar", but he's a major part of this team. 5-1 record since he's returned from injury now.

Yeah, I've never noticed him to be THAT valuable, but he's a big part of our success this year. :)

Never in a million years would have expected a 5-0... weirdly, I wasn't all that bummed, way less so than if the wings had won 3-2 in double OT or something... Sometimes a good team will go out and lay an egg.

Unfortunately I doubt I'll be able to watch Game 4 (I actually get versus, thank christ, but I've got other stuff going on tomorrow night), but hopefully the Ducks can rebound.

I will say, the Red Wing played the game the way it was meant to be played. *Clap* I have to say, if the Ducks play like that again, then the Red Wings have the full right to make it to the finals.

Now, I just want to see if the Buffalo vs. Ottawa best of seven, is going to go to a game five, I hope so, I want to see more hockey.

Luckily for me, I get to watch the next game at home, because here in Detroit we can pick up CBC, who is carrying game 4.

Pronger got a 1 game suspension for his hit on Holmstrom. This is huge for Detroit, to take advantage of this, and take a 3-1 series lead tomorrow.

As for Ottawa - Buffalo, I want to see the Sabres win a game or two, just to prolong the series.

As much as I like the Sens, I think that many people are writing off the Sabres already. But people underestimate them. I think that if the Sens don't come out with their best, the Sabres might take the feet right out from under them.
