Ottawa all the way. As long as the keep the same determination they've been showing so far then neither Buffalo, Detroit or Anaheim have a hope in hell (well except maybe Hasek for DET but other than that).

Of course. Detroit played poorly in the first two games. They've got to be better defensively, and 5 on 5. Special teams have been good though, for the most part. We'll see what happens in Anaheim. Personally, I picked them to split the first 4 games (half way there) with the Wings winning games 5 and 6, just like in the first two rounds.

there's no doubt in my mind that DET won't beat ANA but they won't get past Ottawa.

We are having a party at my house tonight, to watch the Ducks beat the Dred Wings.
I want the Ducks to win the Western, but again overall I think it will be Ottawa.
You people in Colorado need to get over yourselves and your hatred of the Red Wings. The Avs are awful. The rivalry that existed in the 90's and early 00's is over.

Yeah, but what about you and Nashville, there is an ex- Av there, we still love (well some still do) Peter.
I still love my photo of Osgood and Roy in there fight (I know it is old but I love it).
Ever since Roy left and they put dip s**t in as coach, it has been all down hill, the sooner we get rid of him, the better.
Until they prove they can win in the playoffs, we see Nashville as a pretender. (yes I know, that's been our problem past few years too, but we're winning now)

Yeah, the Duck PK has been atrocious, which is weird because it was a major strength for them during the regular season and in the first two rounds...
What I can't believe is that the Wings have an eight-game streak of not selling out home playoff games, whereas I'd prolly have to rob a bank or hold Teemu's wife hostage to get Ducks tickets...
Ducks in 6.

The Red Wings ownership raises prices through the roof for the playoffs, increasing each round. Back in the 90's, even early 00's, that was fine, they sold out anyway. Now've we're kinda getting Atlanta Brave syndrome, where we're always good, but can't win in the playoffs (until this year). Combine this with the horrible economy (due to the auto industry) here in Detroit, and people just aren't willing to shell out the money for this. We're still watching, talking about the games on radio and in the bars, just not mortgaging our houses to go see a game.

That's what I've heard, that it's a bad combination of elements.... Eh, Ilitch is a douchebag anyway... Besides, I wasn't impugning the voracity of Wings fans, just amused by how long-term success can kinda spoil a fan base (much like the aforementioned Braves)...

I don't get the whole Ilitch hatred angle... what's with that? What we're really finding out here, is that Detroit isn't as much a Hockeytown as people might think it is. Detroit above anything is a football town, everything else is a bandwagon sport. When Ilitch bought the team, back in the 80's, he gave away a car at every home game just to try to get people to come. Early 90's when the Pistons were horrible, the Palace was empty, and Comerica Park was always empty before last year. Ford Field, and the larger Silverdome? Nearly always sold out. My favorite sport is hockey, but the same can't be said for everyone here. And frankly the novelty has long worn off for many, and many more were put off by the (ridiculous) lockout.

Man, if Detroit really is a football town, then why hasn't the suicide rate gone up during the Matt Millen administration?
It's not like I bear any personal ill will toward Ilitch (save for the annoying commercials for his pizza chain). He did pump a lot of money into the team to pull them out of the Dead Wings era, and those late 90's early 00's teams were just death. But I hear these things about borderline-absurd prices for playoff tickets, and it just sounds like greed. When you start pricing your fans out of big games, you're going to suffer. And now the Tigers have their act together again (finally), and the Pistons are badass, and the Lions... well, the Lions continue to be a franchise in the NFL.
Eh, that Hockeytown thing always felt like a bit of a gimmick. Shouldn't Montreal be Hockeytown?
