I see your point, however, I'm simply following the standard "double elimination bracket" standard. In double elimination, when you move to the losers bracket, you are forced to play more. I thought it was strange, too, but all brackets I've found are constructed this way for double elimination. I ...

If you win then your opponent would have been defeated twice and thus you would win the tournament. However, if the other team wins, then there would be one more game to decide the winner.
