Re: What assumtions are scientists making?

Fortune telling of the weather
Meterology has always been a very probabilistic profession. You can get something like 70-80% accuracy by just stating "Today's weather will be more-or-less the same as yesterday's". The science of meterology, for all the millions poured into it, can only do 10 odd ...

Skittles!

After His long absence, Skittles has decided to grace CC's forums with His divine presence once again. He formally requests the tithe of a Premium unto Him as a means toward this end.

Any takers?

Re: Why do I believe?

Why is that? Do tell... the Wager is a big part of my argument.

In addition to what Balsifen said, the mercenary attitude displayed in consciously (or unconsciously) accepting Pascal's Wager is what's going to prevent you from getting into any hypothetical heaven. You're not in it because of ...

Re: Why do I believe?

John, it seems to me that every point you raise (well, every rational one; Pascal's Wager hasn't held any water since about thirty seconds before it was first coined) can be rebutted by two words: Occam's Razor.
Why should we suppose a deity to explain the universe when a theory without this ...

Re: ATTN PORKENBEANS

I believe that God is beyond logic because God is beyond time. God being the creator of all things is also the creator of logic, thus is makes sense that God's existence violates logic.

I am not proposing this as an argument that God exists, I am just a little uncomfortable with the claim that ...

Re: ATTN PORKENBEANS

OA, I agree that any answer to "what came before the universe" is illogical, simply because the question is as well. You are talking about an event with a time co-ordinate that preceeds (whatever that means, given the context) the existence of a time axis. It's like asking "What is north of the ...

Re: Evolution vs Creation-Comparing each View

I agree. That was my original goal. I wanted to look at evolution and creation as a whole. Start to finish. Too many times I would be talking about 1 area and 15 other people would start talking about 20 other things. Now I am not mad that this happened, I just could not keep up with all of the ...

'Nark, you still didn't answer my question. Why do you suddently claim to have not investigated Ani dispite the very fact that you claimed to have done so was rather integral to the events of Day 5...?

Night 1 - Ditocoaf (Which is why I backed him up)
2 - Skittles! (Which is why I believed him to be the Princess)
3 - Can't find my result, so I'm unsure if I sent one in then or not
4 - Definitely did not send one in.
5 - Ani
6 - Militant

No action, 'eh? Despite the fact I rather specifically ...

How did you miss the night 5 action if Neutrino got you visiting militant? Pardon me if this is incorrect but when neutrino meant "both nights" I assume that he means night 5 and 6. So that means you tracked him 3 times and always got militant(please correct me if im wrong).

Re: Skoffin's Madhouse mafia Day Seven

Not wanting to let go of any potential lead, I followed AD both nights and got the same result: militant. AD does claim to have investigated Militant once, but twice? Why'd you waste two on 'im, AD? I think this lends a little credence to William's theory last page about Nark being a mafia doc, or ...

Firstly, I'm not Ares, and anybody that could investigate me can see that I am obviously town.

Re: Skoffin's Madhouse mafia Day Four Need moar replacements

While this may seem like (and, in fact, is) metagaming to the extreme, I'm marginally inclined to trust Reed. I've seen a couple of instances where he was complaining to Skoffin about his extremely boring role. Mafia roles (or any kind of scum, really), as a general rule, aren't boring. Now, it may ...

Obviously you know nothing about space envelopes otherwise you would know that if time travel was possible we could only go forward. So dragging books into the past isn't a problem.

Firstly, prove it.

Secondly, we've seen modern armys defeated by single action rifles.

By "Modern" I meant "up to date". I would most definately like to see proof of a significant portion of one of the ...
