Re: Golfe du St-Laurent [GFX Contest]

Woohoo! I thought I would never get to play CC on a map of my own backyard after the first attempt was a bust, but looks like there is hope yet! Sadly I am not a graphic artist and can't make a submission, but good luck to everyone who submits. I would like to point out to any potenial cartographers ...

Re: Golfe du St. Laurent[FD,G,GP,FF]

Glad to see this one being resurrected (yet again) from the fires of Mount Doom... (hope I'm not infringing on any copyrights with that statement). I think the updates look pretty darn good, but the whale and compass 'flair' are so faint that they are nearly invisible (particularly for colorblind ...

Re: Golfe du St. Laurent[FD,G,GP,FF]

"St. John's" (Newfoundland) could potentially be renamed "Avalon Peninsula" to clear up any confusion with Saint John, New Brunswick.

The Army circle for Monteregie is a bit far from the territory name. If it were place directly above the territory name, a bit lower than the Montreal circle, I ...

Re: Golfe du St. Laurent - it's alive!! [Final Forge]

I agree that it would be a shame to send this one to the scrap heap at this stage of the game, but I also understand oaktown's frustration. I wish that I had the time, ability and resources to help with the map, but alas I am merely a commentator from the peanut gallery. That being said, if oaktown ...

Re: Golfe du St. Laurent - it's alive!! [Final Forge]

um, by my count the current map has 21 territories compared to the 20 in the same region you depicted darkseb:

great north ------ 4 terts
sud du quebec --- 8 terts
duplessis --------- 5 terts
east du quebec -- 4 terts
total--------------- 21 terts

Re: Greenland [D] - v10 on p1&6 › army shadows!

Those territory borders are still pretty darn squiggly, they look like jig-saw puzzle pieces.

That's still a pretty darn big mini-map, it could be a tad smaller (especially when it is such close proximity to the big map). It looks like mini-me or something, especially when the main map is only a ...

Re: Dealy Plaza

I'm not a mapmaker, or a graphics artist, just a cc player with to much time on his hands who reads and comments on the map making threads between turns while procrastinating from my various math courses... That being said, I can't really say what size is the best to start with when drawing your map ...

Re: Dealy Plaza

The concept is great but there is definitely a lot to work on. Here are my suggestions...

1. Most importantly, you're gonna have to redraw this one from scratch, using the picture you have as a guide (unless you have Paul J. Burke's permission, that is). Keep in mind that you need to resize your ...

Re: Golfe du St. Laurent (P1, New Update) [Final Forge]

Thanks for the praise yeti, but my comments with all be for naught if this map continues to collect dust... From what I can tell, other than WWII Europe, this is the oldest map in the final forge and it still only has its gameplay, graphics and draft stamps... As a resident of the area this map ...

Re: Greenland - v1 on p1

Nice start but a few things need addressing.

Firstly, you gotta get rid of the 'continent' names from the playable area. While the territory names are all very legible, the continent names are very hard to read and just look generally messy. I think the suggestion someone had about using a mini ...

Re: Doodle Africa - .psd available for whoever wants to take ovr

i think totem poles are more of a western north american aboriginal thing, not so much africa... But i think i get your drift - shields with carved faces on them, tall slender sculpture of women carrying baskets on their head, etc.

Re: Golfe du St. Laurent (P1, New Update) [Final Forge]

While I agree with you that the light blue color is 'visible' on the larger map, I don't think that it's as 'clear' as you let on. In my opinion, the light blue is overpowered by the the white of the territory name and the gray of the army circle making the exposed portion of the island nearly blend ...

Re: Golfe du St. Laurent (P1, New Update) [Final Forge]

I think that the percieved problem lies in the fact that the army circle for Laurentides is to the immediate left of the territory name Montreal, and the army circle for Montreal is to the immediate right of Laurentides. I think that its pretty clear what belongs to what, but to make everyone happy ...

Re: Golfe du St. Laurent (p.1 W/ Armys , XML) [Final Forge]

I don't think that 6 for sud du quebec is too much, it has eight territories (almost twice as many as the duplessis, and it has 5 borders). If anything is off, Duplessis should be worth 4 or even 5 instead of 3 (it does border every other continent after all), and perhaps the great north should be ...
