I have a couple of guidelines I follow;
1. Never do something that you don't think you'll earn on.
2. Never cheat.
3. Immoral doesn't equal illegal.

3. I'll carv stacks. (reduce the troop count but not take the territ)
4. If I don't want to cash in a nuclear set of spoils I'll let the clock run ...

The fact that you got into a situation like that says more than anything else about the game. If you have a stack of more than 10 and you haven't done anything with it, you deserve to lose.

sorry I didn't see anyone mention this in the rest of the thread but from the rules it looks like if you lose a game but kill 2 or 3 opponents, you'll get more points than the team that wins. seems kinda silly to me (the only way the winning team gains more than the 1 winning point is by winning ...
