Grand Strategy sucks. I joined but quickly discovered it's quite limited when compared to CC. And CC is getting better.

Perhaps a fixed point investment by rank would be more appropriate, consider this:

New recruit - Private : 10 points
Sergeant: 12 points
Lieutenant: 14 points
Captain: 16 points
Major 18 points
Colonel: 20 points
General: 30 points

Still, I like the median thing suggested in another ...

Also it seems like the incentive under the new system is to play against lower ranked players:

Imagine you're exactly colonel, 2000 points.

Which is better:

34 points at risk for 86 points gain against five 1000 points players
or
20 points at risk for 100 points gain against five 2000 points ...

Still, deadbeats could receive no points for wining a team game.

The case could be made that you could deadbeat because of strategic reasons... But this seems like very bad sportsmanship.

I would prefer a more traditional background. Spain, the sea, that sort of things. I think you should drop the shadows from the key. Anyway, I'm new here, so I hope I'm not saying anything improper.

Do you like Go? I abandoned all strategy games (except risk, of course) to play Go since I discovered it.
