Well, I don't agree, but I hate combinatorics and probability so I might be wrong. Later I'll write a simulation that does a few million card deals and we'll see what the empirical results are.

I have to apologize, you are right, I still don't see why, but I'll have to have a think about it later ...

But I only count one hand with a 111, because 111 is a set and as soon as we get a set we cash it in and stop.

I produce every card combination up to the point when you cash in, and for every card deal needed, I deal all cards with equal probability (1/3) so I do not see how I have swayed from ...

BTW, I should note that the "surviving hands" rule alters the total probability of making a mixed set; it's now 2/9+2/9+2/27 = 14/27 = 0.518. Still the most probable set, but less so.

The one thing I learnt about combinatorics, back when I was studying for my masters degree is that you should ...

The rule is perfect. Your score shows how much you have learned and grown. It has a games to score ratio. If you have another account to "practice" on, then your score would be false.

No it would be representative of my abillity when I felt I understood the game and strategies enough to play ...

Non rated games

As somebody suggested in another thread(link below), would it be possible to add an option to play games that don't effect rating.

Thanks

But i think you should ask for is non ranked games(Not sure if it was asked already). Wher eyou can play games that dont affect your score. Ya know what i mean?

Yes, that would be good. It would let me practice the games before I played them properly. (Which is by far my most important concern ...

OK, firstly I'd like to say that I'm not trying to be some cocky newbie crapping all over the carpet, you clearly have a lot more experience playing here than me and obviously know a lot more about the community than me, but here is why I see the rule is silly:

The aim of the rule is to prevent ...

Ok. Seems a bit of a silly rule though, especially as the points system doesn't take game type into account.

Do people actually think it's sensible to rate something like freestyle terminator games with escalating cards, using the same points as you do for sequential assassin with no cards? the ...

Multi account for assassin?

I know this is a stupid question, but I'm gonna ask anyway.

I'm the kind of person who cares about my score (yeah, I'm a sad geek, I know) anyway, I want to play assassin games but at the moment I seem to be atrocious at them, and they will totally wreck any score I can get from winning other ...

Just to throw a spanner in the works, people only seem to be considering the case where there are 3 cards. If you have 4 unplayable cards, for example two of the same type twice (RRGG, RRBB, or GGBB), then the probability of getting a 3 of a kind set with your next card is twice as likely as getting ...

dice probabilities

I'm sure this has been calculated before, but I just realised tonight that I had absolutely no idea what the chances were of diferent outcomes with different numbers of dice, so I sat down and worked it out.

I figured some of you might be interested if you've never seen it before, so here are the ...
