I was of the understanding that Round 2 was to be 8 groups of 4, not 4 groups of 8. Does that mean the top 2 from each group goes to the final round?

This could effect playing strategies.

What happened to the round 2 games? I joined and now they're gone?

IMHO, the 2 maps weren't finished when the tourney started, so they don't necessarily have to be part of it. Otherwise, you could end up constantly adding maps as they come out.

Altho, it may be fun to have 2 new maps in the semis that ...

If you read the Tourney handbook, it's the same punishment if it's abandoned in the first round or in the last round. The only time there's no penalty is if no games have been created.

Rebelman, perhaps you could have someone co-host the tournament or take it over all together? I know you are trying to really get this going but it appears it may be more than you can handle.

I had previously posted under "deliberately missing turns change" but it applies here as well.

I think a major fault with freestyle is that you can miss a turn and then start the next round. I've had it used against me in teams and notice it can also be done in standard.

I quite like the idea...I was playing ina game the other week where the opposing team were logging in, posting in forums/taking other turns, and then just as the previous round ended, beginning the following round receiving double armies/bonuses.
