Re: Name Changes

Previously used names would have to be impossible to use. If someone changed their name and wanted to change it back, it would have to be done via a mod request.

Re: Name Changes

Is there a published development priority list available for users to look at? I'm sure they don't want any more admin, but a read-only, regularly updated list of items and their status (being worked on, in testing, accepted but not started - I wouldn't bother including rejected) being made ...

Re: Happy 2,025th Birthday JESUS,MERRY CHRISTMAS 2,025A.D.!!!

If there was a Jesus - and there was certainly something or someone that caused Christianity to come into existence - it's far more likely that his 2031st birthday was 6 months ago. This is based on other civilisations observing the comet that led to the "star of Bethlehem" fallacy. It's about time ...

Escape to Victory is a great war film, if you're into proper football.

Your patience has paid off

This is a very minor, inconsequential and unimportant idea - but would it be possible or desirable to vary the "game is on" message? I imagine it just looks like wallpaper after a while and probably no-one takes any notice; but assuming it's triggered by some sort of MS Flow/Power Automate or ...

Re: Susie Wiles Spills

It's funny... I never even heard of her until now.

Trump 1.0, the Chiefs of Staff were constantly in the news. Trump 2.0, she's been almost invisible.

I think Trump 2.0 is more disciplined, partly due to Wiles and partly because Trump realized he made MANY mistakes during his first term ...

Re: Practice new map vs human for 0 points

One does get one no-point game when one first joins. It may encourage new freemiums to take part if this were to be an additional game to the usual limit, but I'm not sure how keen freemiums would be to take up 25% of their allotted games with one that scores no points. Personally I found it okay to ...

Re: Name Changes

I think it's a valid suggestion. In the earlier days of the internet, people may have joined using something like their real name, then found either that identity theft or seeing what others did with aliases made them wish to have gone for a nickname.
I also have to say - having experienced this in ...

Re: Post Site Lag Issues Here!

I seem to be getting a bit of lag at the moment - not as severe as before, but worse than it was 3 or 4 hours ago.
That said, it's slowed down further after a couple more hours.
As a former data person (and born problem-solver), I'm wondering whether it's the host server, the connections, the code ...

Re: Post Site Lag Issues Here!

If it's this bad with only 188 users online, what's it going to be like with a thousand or more? It seems worse today than yesterday. One thing that may help - don't auto-refresh the screen for a player taking their turn in a sequential speed game. I don't think it's necessary, and it would cut down ...

Game 24262777 - refreshing in the middle of a move during a sequential game probably doesn't help. It's hard work even to post messages.

Re: Prevent non-players from commenting on games they're not playing

I'm sure the mods and site owners are very pleased with your ability to scare off potential new members. Normally I'd stick around and expose the sort of person you are, but it seems they're very well aware already. Anyway, thanks to the mods for reaching out, the advice about foeing, and the ...

I was also going to suggest "Block external chat" as a set-up option, but since I won't be sticking around, this is no longer my concern, so please consider it case closed.

Your childish behaviour has ensured that this potential member will not be joining. Well done for depriving the site of income. I hope you continue to enjoy defining your personality by your prowess in a kid's board game.

Re: Prevent non-players from commenting on games they're not playing

I'm sure it won't surprise anyone to know that he has gone into all my games and added a comment. Very mature - not. Use of the term cupcake this way is homophobic. Referring to yourself in the third person is narcissistic. Disparaging newcomers who make a simple suggestion is not the way to ...

You're not funny. If you think a childish reaction and narcissistic macho homophobia are the right way to deal with a new joiner who just made a simple suggestion, then perhaps you have the answer to the question posed in another thread - why CC is declining.

Re: Prevent non-players from commenting on games they're not playing

It didn't (as far as I know). Someone posted a link to a game, I clicked on it out of curiosity, and saw that someone else had been posting comments, telling them they were going to lose. It may have been friendly banter by someone they knew, I don't know; I just thought it might be useful to ...

Self-explanatory. I'm not sure why it's actually possible to begin with. Game chat should be limited to participants only.

If he's got no chance to win, as you said, by definition I wouldn't have thought that counts as throwing the game. Doesn't that mean losing a game that one might at least have had a chance of winning?

Re: CC is declining again!

One thing that may help is not doing system updates at a time when a lot of people might be playing. Surely the weekend, when people don't have to play, would be better - preferably overnight for the majority (I'm guessing that's US and Europe)?

Re: CC is declining again!

It would probably do more harm than good with so few players now. But 12 and/or 8 hour turns would make tournaments much more engaging. I know it's been brought up plenty of times, but so has everything else in this thread
I think 8 hours only works if everyone is in a similar time zone. The lack ...
