Republican National Convention

Postby saxitoxin on Mon Jul 15, 2024 4:22 pm

Today, President Trump designated J.D. Vance to evict Kamala from 1 Observatory Circle and become the 50th Vice President of the United States.

My take ...

Pro:
- This is the final nail in the coffin of the Reagan-Bush party and firmly establishes the remake of the GOP into a revolutionary populist party. J.D. supports everything the Reaganites oppose: anti-trust laws, tariffs, and organized labor.
- He's perfectly positioned to succeed Trump as president in 2028. And, because he's only 40, he could serve as president for 16 or 20 years.
- Tall
- Man

Con:
- A Hispanic pick would be better but, with the election a foregone conclusion now I understand that Trump felt he could just pick anyone and doesn't need to unify any sectoral groups
- He's Catholic -- normally that's a dead end for me but he was a convert so wasn't raised in Popery so may be redeemable
- Weak hair and fat ... but he can fix those, at least

Vance is from Ohio and former military.
Both of which I am sure looked appealing to Trump to make the ticket more well rounded.
He is young, so Trump's age should be a non factor for repubs/independents.
Also his wife is Indian, which should nullify the chants of 'racist' from the more reasonable lefties.

Really, saxi? Perhaps you forgot about the 22nd Amendment:

22ND AMENDMENT
Two-Term Limit on Presidency

Section 1
No person shall be elected to the office of the President more than twice,

Earlier today the Teamsters president heaped praise on JD Vance in a television interview. Trump is now the Sun himself, summoning all planets, moons, and minor asteroids into his orbit.

On Monday evening, Teamsters union President Sean O’Brien will speak at the Republican National Convention in Wisconsin—a key battleground state where Republicans led a prominent attack on labor unions more than a decade ago.

It will be the first time a Teamsters president has spoken at the Republican convention. O’Brien’s presence highlights the dissonance in the party’s approach to union members, many of whom are the working-class voters they now depend on.

Republican National Convention

Postby saxitoxin on Mon Jul 15, 2024 7:53 pm

How bad is Vladimir Zelenskyy shitting himself tonight?

Vance told Steve Bannon on War Room a few months ago "I have to be honest with you, I don't really care what happens to Ukraine one way or the other."

=D> =D>

Update: The President of the Teamsters Union is speaking now ...
    - "All across America right now American workers are being abused by big banks."
    - "We are not beholden to anyone."
    - "It's an honor to be the first Teamster, in our 121 year history, to address the Republican National Convention."
    - "There are some in the Republican Party that stand in active opposition to organized labor. This must change!"
    - "But during my administration of the Teamsters, we reached out to Republican senators and eight stood with us. Including Senator Josh Hawley who walked our picket line. I want to recognize Senator Hawley for his relentless questioning of corporate talking heads and apologists! He will not stand for the pillaging of working peoples' pocket books!"
    - "President Trump had the backbone to open the door to this convention to the Teamsters. That's unprecedented!"
    - "Whether people like him or don't like him, in light of what happened on Saturday, President Trump has proved to be one, tough S-O-B!"

I agree, this appears to be a really good choice for VP. Seems like a much more natural fit for Trump than Pence just personality/talking style also. I'm not sure it brings a ton of on the fence voters but it will bring some Gen X and younger votes ... right now it doesn't seem like he's gonna need a whole lotta help.

JD Vance is your typical Republican who had strong ethical and conservative principles. They all attacked Trump as unhinged and being a clown....Then came the MAGA takeover of the GOP.

Things said in the past was all a mistake and the alternative truths becomes the new reality...

Vance seems to have switched on Trump due to Trump's foreign policy.
Not since Reagan has their been such a period of successful peace from a non-interventionalist policy

Bush Sr - Gulf War and Panama
Clinton - Somalia, Bosnia, Kosovo, bombing Sudan and Afghanistan
Bush jr - Iraq and Afghanistan
Obama - attacks on Libya and Syria. Did 10x more drone strikes than Bush, mainly on Pakistan, Yemen, and Somalia.

And when Trump had diplomatic meetings with Russia and North Korea to try and ease back tensions, the war mongers gnashed teeth and howled at the moon in anger.

Biden's absolute failure to maintain peace both in Israel and Ukraine is reason enough for him to be driven from office.
Ofcourse there are dozens more domestic reasons why he should and will be thrown out of the White House.

It's the great thing about MAGA. It's a forgiving philosophy and everyone gets one chance to repent before we send them to the camps. Even you.

Only true patriots like Saxi, jusplay4MAGA, Lonous, ConfederateSS, Votanic and even perhaps KoolBak will avoid the internment camps. But, I think Saxi will eventually be brought down by the Religious Committee of Pure Thoughts. Sorry buddy, but your pro-Islamic views will be your undoing.

"MARTIN NIEMÖLLER: "FIRST THEY CAME FOR..."
Martin Niemöller (1892–1984) was a prominent Lutheran pastor in Germany. In the 1920s and early 1930s, he sympathized with many Nazi ideas and supported radically right-wing political movements. But after Adolf Hitler came to power in 1933, Niemöller became an outspoken critic of Hitler’s interference in the Protestant Church. He spent the last eight years of Nazi rule, from 1937 to 1945, in Nazi prisons and concentration camps. Niemöller is perhaps best remembered for his postwar statement, which begins “First they came for the socialists, and I did not speak out…”

At first glance it might, until you realize the first people we go after will be the child molesting pedophiles.
Then you realize who Pack and his ilk intend to interlock arms with.

Today was the obligatory night when they had all the Southern Evangelicals ranting and raving and speaking in tongues. This is the worst night of the convention. I learned Sarah Sanders' son is named "Huck." We get it, lady, you're from Arkansas.

Let's get through this BS and bring on BIG DON FROM MANHATTAN!

Trump is likely to WIN ALL 6 key Battleground states, and thus win the election:

https://www.msn.com/en-us/news/politics/trump-biden-2024-polls-here-s-who-s-winning-in-the-6-states-that-will-decide-the-election/ar-BB1nCNdR?ocid=winp2fptaskbar&cvid=8f29b37fa93e452ce823db1085d70162&ei=17

AND, MORE bad news for Biden and the Dems:

Trump has widened his narrow lead over Biden in the wake of their June 27 debate, with most surveys taken since showing Trump winning and more voters saying Biden is too old to serve another term. Trump now leads Biden by 2.7 points nationally in a head-to-head contest, according to the Real Clear Politics’ average, a two-point increase since early June.

If someone said the ruler of West Virginia was named Jim Justice and he had a sidekick named Babydog, and you had no idea what either of them looked like, this is exactly what you would picture.

I figured he would pick Vance: the worst qualified and a mini-Trump. Absolute lunacy.
Dismal ratings for the convention as educated people try to avoid the horror.

RCP includes some unqualified pollsters.

Mainstream media is so in the bag for Trump you probably don't know this.
Biden is favored to win by the excellent 538 forecast.
Biden 54% - Trump 46% chance of the most Electoral College votes. And Biden has been increasing his chances.
Repeat - Biden wins 54 times out of 100
Currently, the average ECV is Biden 277 to Trump 261.
A lot of recent polls have some questionable internals.
But if you look at Fox and CNN, they are saying a landslide for Trump as the corporate bosses put their hands on the coverage.

LOL except Nate Silver left 538 two years ago and took the algorithm 538 had previously used with him. Using the original 538 algorithm that established the 538 track-record, Silver predicts Trump will win.

Axios is now reporting Biden will drop-out as soon as Sunday due to his campaign's belief he is on the verge of a blowout loss that could risk the entire Democratic Party going extinct as a major force in American politics.

He shoulda read Gary on Conquer Club!
