No man. Jesus has nothing to do with the upcoming wars. I just figured I'd throw that in there. From the word "The" to the word "so" is the comment that is relative to this topic.

Okay. The only reason that is, is because Russian history doesn't date back 3000+ years. And in the few revolutions that Russia has had, they would rank right up there with any of those China has had.
Few is a good word for one. The economy of Russia and China is improving while USA is in deep dept.

actually, the US economy actually improved this year despite all the problems such as the housing bubble and all that (according to the Economist). It's mainly because of the strength of international US investments

Yeah this is what you guys fail to understand.

In the age of nukes world powers will not directly engage militarily, it's purely a war of economics and diplomacy.

Who cares if America has the best military, in proxy wars it's meaningless, look at vietnam and most recently Iraq.

And who cares if they have more fire power, just as long as both sides have enough for M.A.D. (mutually assured destruction), it's inconsequential.

The only reason the american government and economy continues to function is because they continue to burrow trillions of dollars, but how is that money staked? Through foriegn bodies i.e. China / Japan.

And guess what, they know it's a terrible investment and it's not likely that they will ever see their money again. They finance this so the american economy can keep going, and therefore their economies can keep going.

So far the fact that americans are the prime consumers for Chinese product is the main reason they don't pull the plug. But this will not continue forever, not by a long shot. Fact is america is living off it's old wealth and running on debt. A country can't make any money selling insurance to each other.

There's no reason for them to make their move now, they are sucking up your cash and wacthing as you bankrupt yourself in the middle east.

Hell they probably don't even need to have a cold war, you'll fall over on your own.

Damn man, i really hope what you are saying is true. America was the main world power for way too long ,and did not deserve it, its about time some one took over. And I, for real, wish it would be Europe.

I seriously hope that Rudd will not be Howard and follow US into whichever war. If there is a war I'm moving to a small island in the Pacific which no-one is going to nuke since it's a kilometer by 100 metres

I have only this to say.

Jenos Ridan wrote:It will start as a conventional war in either the Middle East (already there if it counts) or Europe (which is where it would have happened until 1991) and rapidly spill out of control from there unless it somehow strays conventional (both sides know that would be for the best if they plan on actually winning).

Should any other the nuclear powers get into a war, M.A.D. will assure that no one, unless they are losing horribly, will use them and the diplomatic community knows this and will bring the war to a close diplomatically.

At least, that is the plan. It was the plan until 1991 and I don't see it changing anytime soon.

Actually I only mentioned the fact that they finance U.S. debt, and I never stated that it was for anything other then economic purposes.

yes, but the constitution can be revised.

besides, japan loosely translates the "no military force" part by keeping a "police force" anyways

Nobody would win a third world war... even if someone did what would be left of the world wouldn't be worth winning anyhow.

Germany couldn't go to war or have a large military after WWI. However, I'm treading dangerously close to Godwin's law so I'll leave it at that.

Note: I don't actually think Japan will be involved in the (unlikely) event of another world war. I am kidding 50% of the time.

Japan will become involved because North Korea has nuclear capability and is right... Next...DOOR!!!

If WWIII breaks out, expect fighting in the Sea of Japan and the Korean Pennesula in addition to the Middle East and the Balkans. There may even be fighting in Indonesia and South East Asia due to the current internal struggles in those nations. Look to any country with internal trouble and within about two decades on average, history shows us they'll externalize by declaring war on a neighbor, typically one they don't like much.

How long before China finally snaps? Wouldn't be the first time, same with Russia. Pakistan and a few (used lightly) of it's neighbors are already bubbling.

Look at history: it took about twenty years from the signing of the Treaty of Versailles to the official declaration of war by France and Great Britian against Germany. As soon as the internal trouble beings, a dictator will rise to the occation, solve some of the problem but not all and because of that he/she will invent an excuse. Hand-over-fist it has always been war with a neighbor, especially when there is bad blood between them (Eg. Germany and France; the bad blood goes back to at least the Napoleonic Era).

Currently, Putin is working on establishing himself as the new soviet premier (via a possible bid for the office of prime minister and a puppet president and a rubber-stamp parliament). North Korea has always had trouble and now they have leverage, in the form of nuclear weapons, over South Korea and Japan. China will be dragged into it simply because they are in the region and would stand to gain by being on the side of North Korea. The Middle East, having always been in a near-constant state of war (at the very least, tribal feuding), will erupt the moment either Iran or Pakistan makes an large aggressive move of any sort (like seizing Iraq as soon as those pesky Americans and their paltry coalition leave). In the case of Pakistan, India and Afghanistan are probably the likily targets.

In short, it could happen within five to twenty years and hopefully not any time sooner but I can't say it wouldn't be possible.
