It was a pretty decent flame for outside FW. I enjoyed it.

Please don't ruin it by telling me you were serious.

Just don't.

I think we come from totally different realities. For example, you seem to come from Phoenix.

Absolutely-this thread is about clothes, right?
I dont think BTownmeg should wear any-not if she wants to get ahead.

I apologize. I meant no offense. Well I did, but in good fun.

If you are serious about your new job, getting a great waredrobe for the job is as important as anything you can do while you are there. Spend as much as you can afford and get the nicest stuff you can. How you look is not important to everyone you work with, but it is very important to someone above you.

My first set of business clothes was from second hand stores, not goodwill, but about the same. You can find great stuff there, it just takes alot of work and patience.

Also update regularly. Make a clothes budget and retire clothes that get too worn.

*hangs head and slowly turns back to FW*

It'd never happen. I once used the N-word in the forums, which automatically disqualifies me.

This has caused me to wonder a few things.

1. What government, brazil or something?

2. Is this going to get in the way of that extra fifteen years of school you were planning?

3. Dried semen makes me smell bad?

1. US

2. I think my employers would like for it, but I've already told them that I intend for it not to. This job is essentially SHORT-TERM.

3. Depends on what the semen's creator's been eating, I think.

Actually Dimes it masks your natural odour, which is a blessing for all concerned. I thought I should let you know.

1. Now I really want to know what the department is.

2. Do you think they might give you leave for it or even let you work part time? Government gigs are pretty sweet, even now that they're much less, "She's never really done anything for fifteen years besides the crosswords."

3. God?

I own only one suit and it's always been just fine for the occasions I've needed it. That said, I only tend to wear it on my birthday, go figure.

I only own one suit as well. A cheap one at that.

My area is so hickville, when I wore it for a speech presentation in my community college, everybody thought I was the goddamn President of the United States walking in...

Well, the reason I'm going for the PhD is because I'd prefer not to do 8 to 5 for the rest of my life.

But yes, they are sweet. And they still involve LOTS of crosswords, in my experience.

PhD's are nice :) I'm intending to see what I can to either become a professor of music at a college, or get a job as an engineer working on my own time.

Anything I can do to avoid wake up calls at seven in the morning is a priority.

I started today and it's wonderful. Everyone is so nice. I have lots of free time to play CC. My office has two chairs, a reading desk, a computer desk, and a gigantic bookshelf. I created a lovely voicemail message and email signature. I have business cards and a name placard on my door. My Goodwill suit looks great on me.

Also, over the past 24 hours my partner and I both received Ph.D. acceptances from a good university that even if we're rejected from everywhere else we would be very happy attending, so things are going just great.

Not meaning to be rude but what makes you think a PhD will save you from having to work 8-5?

Most professors I know teach 2 classes a semester (6 hours in a classroom/week, essentially). At a smaller college, you might teach 3 per semester, but have less of a research obligation. Research, grading, and office hours overlap and can be done on their own schedule.

I guess what I meant to say was you don't need a PhD to get a job with flexible hours, if that's what you're looking for...
