the real problem now is the light orange against yellow. just get rid of orange no matter what u do it looks like red and yellow. use purple maybe?

purple would look too similar to blue so that's out of the question.

Green and Slate on a green country are undistinguishable (like Ireland on the British Isles map).

Could slate not be made black, or if you don't want confusion with b=black and b=blue, make it at least a lot darker and call it a=anthracite or something.

Or, and I know this has been suggested before: colour the circles rather than the numbers. Look at denizengames Grand Strategy (by far not as good a site as CC, but they don't have any problems with colours).

off topic but nice to hear
Don't now why people on here don't like being cooks, remember under siege: A former SEAL, now cook, is the only person who can stop a gang of terrorists when they sieze control of a US Navy battleship.

I have a problem telling yellow from orange....

My only other suggestion is in quads games, would it be possible to make player 4 a colour other than yellow.

Yellow is still considered as an enemy by the majority of team 1 players

Colour is the correct spelling. The Americans just hashed it up when they stole our language.

That is not the only thing we stole...I think we have your balls too.

Actually as far as I know it's color in Latin. So the English stole color from Latin and made it colour. The Americans then stole it from the English and reverted it back to color. :)

I must admit that when using English I prefer the word colour though. :)

Somebody earlier mentioned the possibility of putting the army numbers in Bold on the map. I was just thinking that it would be quite useful to display your own armies in bold... I think I'll fill out a suggestion form for it...

Why don't we go back one more step down this road: American/British/etc. Modern English<Middle English<Old French<Latin<Greek, call it
The Chromatic Committee
(or The Achromatic Committee, if such is your conviction) and be done with it, eh? :D

For those of you who are asking why we used pink instead of magenta and cyan instead of teal, it was decided by the council early in the debates to use commonly used (though mistaken) colour names. Hence although in reality, the colours are in fact magenta and teal, pink and cyan were to be used as the "official" names. It simplifies everything.

Also, the official name is the Colour Committee

Actually Dec - you're wrong - Cyan is Cyan... it's NOT TEAL!!!

Actually, Dec is only partially wrong since you do call Magenta Pink (??!!)

I wasn't calling into question the fact that Magenta is called Pink...

But M is to big a letter to be used on the codes - as we don't use a fixed width font...

This is one unexpected (to me, that is) consideration. The same must be true of "W" as well, right? Very interesting. Thanks.

I would prefer the scond option in games. There should be something in My Settings that lets you switch.

Actually, you are right that I am wrong, and I am wrong to say that I'm right, but.....

Colours are colours, cyan is cyan, teal is teal, magenta is magenta, and pink is pink, and I understand that. The only point I was trying to make was cyan and pink are the CC official names. So I should rephrase....

The council early decided to use the names magenta and cyan for simplicity, that everybody was already used to those names.

I personally thought the "S" stood for "Spew", but obviously not. Maybe Stale would be in order.

No offence, but these colours are worst than before.
