Well, there's the drawback. You have to live in the U.S., instead of your gorgeous homeland filled with people, places, and things you love. And what's more, most universities are located in podunk towns in podunk states (like Neoteny's!).

Hey, we are the third largest town in Georgia. Get off my sack. If you wanted to go to grad school in Georgia, you'd want to go to Athens or Atlanta anyhow. I'm hoping to move to Cali for grad school though, if that reveals anything...

I've heard back from everywhere I applied last fall. It's now official that I will be doing my PhD in a kinda-charming-little-podunk town in the OLD SOUTH. But not in Georgia.

Have fun with that. I did a year of undergrad in Americus, Georgia (right next to Plains, home of Jimmy Carter and a peanut festival... and a bunch of goats, and that's it) so I think I've had my quota of the KCLP, as you put it. I'm ready for San Diego or something...

I would like to come and see Washington DC (mostly museums, libraries and archives) and New York (museums, Broadway, Ellis Island, et cetera).

Good choices. NYC is a magical wonderland. Magical. Being in Central Park makes me gag... in a really good, pleasant, serendipitous way.

The Smithsonian and such are pretty intense. They alone were worth the visit to DC for me.

San Diegans are just like Southerners except very tanned and sometimes gay.

We have gays here too. So I suppose it's not too different. I'm pretty much going for the change in atmosphere.

Yeah. It's exciting, worthwhile, enriching to get out, move around, do shit, and stuff.

I sympathize, and encourage you!

How many years do you have left in undergrad?

I'm in my second year of my NZ Diploma in Business, then i'm going to cross credit my entire diploma into the degree and only spend half the time needed to complete it. The degree is normally 3 years but by cross crediting my Diploma over I can shave half the time off.
