I'd be pissed off if my premium expired 2 minutes before the 2 weeks free were given out.

* Red Hat Enterprise Linux 5 ES (64-bit)
* Dual Processor, Quad Core Intel Xeon
* 8 GB Memory (Fully Buffered)
* 2 x 73 GB (10k RPM) SCSI Drives, RAID 1
* 4 x 73 GB (10k RPM) SCSI Drives, RAID 10
* Redundant Power
* 100 Mbps

*Love the 64-bit OS.
*So is this an Ocho Core now? How fast are they?
*8gigs of ram is great
*love the mirrored OS hard drives
*I would have tried to do 15k RPM drives for the Raid 10....and Raid 10 is the BEST for databases. Good job putting the OS on a mirror and the database on the Raid 10.
*Redundant power is always a good thing.....
*oooo...it has a network card :) I probably would have forgotten that..... :)

The CPUs are Xeon L5335 - are those considered fast?

Had to switch to 64 bit OS because MySQL won't make use of more than 4GB RAM on a 32 bit OS.

Lets see, if I'm right, it means that CC's database (JUST the database - we wave 2 other webservers and a load balancer to handle the static stuff on top of that) has 8 cores running at 2.0Ghz with a 1333Mhz FSB using only a 50 Watt power envelope (that means it has oodles of number crunching ability, good virtualization prospects, and is power efficient for more environmentally friendly world conquest).

It's a beast of a machine and should give us some serious growth overhead and make the experience for those who are already here much much better.

Thanks for the upgrade Lack, good work as always!

The CPU's arent the very fastest in existance, but they can hit ferrari level speeds when needed ;-)

same problems

I'm still getting the "communication with server has timed out"notice and the game doesn't play faster, though there is no delay on login.

Next time that happens open up your command prompt (start>run>cmd) and type

Code: Select all

tracert www.conquerclub.com
then PM that to me. That could be a slow hop somewhere or it could be a server thing, but we need to know :)
