Would you bet money in a game?

Post by Itrade »

Would you play a game with money involved?

I might. Depends on the bet. I'd put the cost of a soda or two on a six player game. It's only like a soda if you lose, but if you win, it's a six pack!

Of course then people would get pissed off if the dice seem to be conspiring against them, or if they land in a crappy spot at the start of a game, or such.

I wouldn't bet more than $1 because of the random way the board is alotted to each player at the beginning.

Sometimes, the game is lost before it even begins when you get bad territories to start off with.

I wouldn't bet a penny, the dice hate me and add that with my horrible luck I would be totally doomed to lose lots of money. :D

Doesn't sound like my idea of fun - if I want to gamble I'll log on to partypoker. Losing money isn't going to bring out the better side of people.

Yeah I'm with the monkey on this one, gambling doesn't seem conquerclub like, and it definatly isn't risk like. I might do it if there was more stratagy involved earlier in the game (setting up armies) but I'd still only want to gamble small amounts. In additon to that you have several members who are under 18 so there would be some legal grey area if they won for ca$h games. I've also had games where I was unexpectedly away from computers for a few days, Imagine the stress of being in a game with say $200 on the line then having a family member die and being away from CC for a week. You'd end up out a fairly hefty sum of money on top of all that grief.

I bet money on my RL Risk games, this will be a great feature. I'm for it even though I couldn't use it since I don't have a PayPal account.

Back in my bartending days, people used to always play games in the bar like pool, darts, cribbage, whatever. The only time I ever had any trouble arise from these games was when there was money involved. Whether they were drinking or not, people who didn't make bets were far less likely to start a fight than those who did put money on games. If we'd like to maintain this semi-peaceful community, it's a bad idea.

Also, if there are any gambling addicts out there, Conquer Club is a pretty safe place at the moment. I think we should leave it that way.

If people want to bet on games, why not bet points? I think I'd rather pick up an extra 50 points in a game than a couple of bucks...but then, I'm a Conquer Club freak!

Let me refer you to the Conquer Club adicts support group, rember the first step to recovery is admitting you have a problem.

Important point about the gambling adicts though. If you could win money we might see an infulx of people coming to this sight to do just that.

In order to bet money, you'd have to be confident in your ability to win.. so I don't think its a great idea..

I wouldnt bet any either because you can definitely lose a game before it even starts if you get some bad territories.

In real risk your suppposed to take turns setting up your guys in tactical positions. It makes the games take forever but It would eliminate that excuse of bad positioning.

The poll left out one option: ConquerCa$h. I'd definitely be willing to wager ConquerCa$h -- redeemable for special on-site perks like non-standard rank icons, vanity quotes in your profile, or (if you can save up enough) perhaps even a one-month premium membership.

Actually Jota thats a pretty good, Idea, the other thing you could do is wadger points, so rather than lose lets say 20 points at the end of the game you could end up down like 200 points, this might get abused by multies becoming generals though.
