Air hockey is a contact sport when my friends and I play. Between flying pucks and paddles, we're a little bummed if we don't draw any blood by the end of a set of matches.

It seems like such people think Hockey fans are racist. And being accused of something I'm not is frustrating to say the less and it is the people who are so awfully paranoid about it that are the real racists, by way of their incessant pointing of the finger at others they imagine are such............

I'm done ranting now, it felt good.

And so, defying all probability and predictions by anyone outside the Boston locker room, the Bruins force a game seven in Montreal. Unfortuantely for the Canadiens in the last two gams, the Price has not been right!

Go B's!! New England bleeds Black and Gold!!

Ummmmm, were you paying attention when the Avalanche beat the Wild to win the series 4-2 last night? No, the Wild will not win my friend, the Avalanche already did.

 pretty funny...

Anyway, I thought Colorado would win. And if San Jose gets by Calgary, and Detroit beats Nashville (game is about to start) then that sets up a Detroit - Colorado second round match up.

I don't know that there would be a better time for Colorado to draw Detroit. Beyond all comprehension, Jose Theodore is playing basically lights out at the moment, and we'll need that to even have a shot at Detroit. Although, I'd rather see them match up in the Western Conference Finals. You know, for old time's sake and all that jazz. :D

Who do you guys think is gonna win the eastern conference? Probably Montreal even though I hate them. Or maybe Pittsburg.

I think it will be Pittsburgh to be honest, but we'll see how Montreal stacks up in their next series. They were a bit shaky playing against Boston, but then, they do have a rookie in net, and that has worked plenty of times before for them in the playoffs.

I think Colorado has a real good chance to make a run in the playoffs if Theodore plays as well as he did against Minnesota. My god he was unbelievable in net. I was (almost) tearing my hair out watching the Wild put shot after shot on net only to have them all stopped #-o. And their defense absolutely shut down Gaborik.

No excuses or anything but two of our best defenders were out for the series ;)

So true, so true. :)

Detroit had a bit of a struggle in net during that first series, even though they won, and Colorado is a team full of snipers with Sakic, Forsberg, Statsny, Smyth, and company. It's gonna be good, that's for sure. :)

So, did nobody tell the Avs that they were playing hockey this week?

I jest. It kinda sucked that they had so many players out. It might have made the series a bit more intense...

But, really, it doesn't get much more decisive than 8-2...

:D

Yeah, that series was pretty much an embarrassment. Quennville never should have started Theodore in Game 3, it should have been Budaj. I don't care if you are "sick", getting pulled in the second period of two straight games doesn't mean you get to keep starting. Especially when the guy who replaced you in those games had a 97% save percentage.

Very embarrassing to say the least. At least we made it back to the playoffs this year, which was nice. Unfortunately, due to Theodore's play down the stretch during the regular season we are going to likely re-sign him and go through this goalie crap for another 4 years. Sigh......just give the job to Budaj or go get an elite goaltender.

How about Johan Franzen???? 9 goals in 4 games? He's already set a Wings playoff record with 11 goals in the post-season.

fascinating story from the Onion about NHL today:

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=vXvy968BCs8
have you ever seen an idealist with grey hairs on his head?
or successful men who keep in touch with unsuccessful friends?
you only think you did
i could have sworn i saw it too
but as it turns out it was just a clever ad for cigarettes.

Apparently he's done a number on Howe's record holdings. The guy has a lot of potential, for damn sure.

It was indeed.

The series was rather uneventful, as far as the rivalry goes. Both the Detroit series were rather uneventful once the Pistons decided they wanted to play.

For the 1st time in my life I feel bad for a Colorado goaltender. Neither of those guys were to blame for their performances. Sure, a weak goal here or there, but when Tomas Holmstrom's and Johan Franzen can stand in front of the net for days on end, without so much as a love tap from a defenseman, you have to think that some of the goals were not on the goalie.

Yeah its pretty hard to concede 8 and assume that they are all on the goalie. Someone in the back 2 probably could use an extra practice or two.

And once again I'm reminded of the glory days. Anyhow, apparently Colorado dropped every game against Detroit this season. Might the coach need to take some responsibility for this? I understand the injuries hurt, but this kind of blowout shouldn't happen in hockey.

Actually it should happen every year.

it may look like simplistic math...but if there is a God this is how in God's infinite wisdom God views hockey.

Detroit greater than Colorado.
