With the emergence of so many amazing tournaments these days, it is time for someone to take us back to our more "basic" roots here in the tournament forum. The organizers are doing a great job delivering highly complex, or incredibly well thought out "theme" tournaments and sports leagues, but I think it is time that we have a few more tournaments of the less complex design.
Therefore, I present to you the Grand Champion Series, a series of tournaments played one by one and where the champion gets to choose the map for the next tournament in the series. I hope this will bring about a competitive spirit amongst the tournament players as we use a more simplified format to have some fun moving this series along. As we complete more and more maps in the series I believe this will be a tournament that players seek to be a part of on a regular basis. Perhaps we can even see who can collect the most Grand Champion crowns.
We will need 64 total players, premium and non-premium are both more than welcome. However, all non-premium participants need to dedicate 1 game slot to this tournament until they are eliminated in order to speed the tournament along.

Cards: Escalating
Fortifications: Chained
Turns: Sequential
Fog of War: No
Players per Game: 4
First Round:
The 64 players will be divided randomly into 4-player games. The winner and the second place finisher will advance to the Second Round of play. The first two players eliminated from the game will be out of the tournament. Winners and second place finishers will then be sorted into future games by the schedule listed in the second post of this thread below.
Second Round:
The 32 remaining players (16 Winners/16 Second Place Finishers) will play in their respective 4-player games as outlined by the schedule below. Once again, the winners and second place finishers advance while the others are eliminated from the tournament.
Third Round:
The 16 remaining players (8 Winners/8 Second Place Finishers) will be slotted into their respective 4-player games. This time, only the winner will advance to the Finals. All others are eliminated.
Final Round:
The 4 winners of the Third Round games will play in a single 4-player game to determine the tournament champion. This champion will then have an automatic spot in the next tournament of the series and will have the freedom to choose the map for that tournament (with some possible slight restrictions).
