New Map - LOST or Hawaii [Abondoned]

Post by KEYOGI »

I'm in the finishing stages of my Australian map and are thinking of new projects. I'm a big fan of the show Lost and think the show's island setting could lend itself well to a map. I was also thinking of Hawaii, it's group of islands make ideal continents.

What do people think? Lost, Hawaii or both! 8)

hawaii would basically be the same and you wouldnt have to worry about any copyrites
Would you choose supremecy if it lead to isolation?

I hadn't thought of that, has anybody had trouble getting copyright permission for other maps?

I know of other people having probs with copyright but you could always look into it and see what you can do about it but i like the both ideas.

I like the Lost idea but it might be hard to do since we don't know much about the island they're on.

Also the LOST idea might run into copyright issues. ;)

yeah i agree with strike wolf...might be best to wait until we know more about the island(s?). but here's a link to a map of the island that was in maxim. could be a good starting point.

the problem with the LOST map is that we have never seen a completely accurate map of the place or names to any of the places. A LOST map would be a lot of guesswork and would probably end up really bad.

EDIT: and why isnt their a "neither" option in the poll?

And I disagree.. while yiour australia map does look good I wont believe you are in the final stages until you get more countries... 34 countries is way small and wont make for very much fun.

This thread has nothing to do with the Aussie map, so can we keep comments for it in the relevant thread. :)

Talking about countries though, I don't think it really matters how many a map has, as long as it is playable. The site needs more maps, and if everybody is making maps with roughly the same amount of countries what would be the point. Isn't it better to have some variety in the maps so they all play differently and offer different challenges.

I feel the need for this thread has come to an end. With all the helpful input, it is clear that a Lost map is not viable. I'll start work on Hawaii shortly to see if people are interested in what I have to offer.

you have to do lost! Lost is amazing and most definitely does not suck. If you decide to do the lost map, buy Rolling Stone Magazine, the october edition. The one with fergie on the front. On one of the pages towards the back they give a sum up of lost and also have a full page map. Maybe you can use that, or nothing else for guidelines. I really hope you make lost tho.

Lost would be amazing.

There's so many great things that could be used such as the Hatches for bonuses and all that. It would be great!

and i seriously doubt that copyright issues would be a big deal. There are other maps, such as the tamriel map, that has stuff under copyright. All you have to do is give credit to where credit is due and there will be no problem. Seriously, you have to do lost. I would love you. haha

If they can get consent, by all means, that's what the other cartographers have done.

Who would I contact? The creators/producers of the show or the person(s) who made the map?

I'm not sure I would work on it anytime soon, but I could class it under future project. Wouldn't mind if anyone else wanted to have a crack at it either.

I've decided not to pursue either map, both have too many issues. If anybody else wants to attempt making either map, go right ahead. I wish you luck. 8)
