Life sucks. I can be happy for no reason whatsoever sometimes, despite things being shite, and yet I've got all my French and German coursework out the way and I'm meeting up with a girl on Friday, which could possibly lead somewhere, and I've been fucking depressed for the last 2 days. What fucking gives? :x

I know I'm practically home free, just one assignment left and then I can practically sleep the rest of the school year and yet I'm pissed off about everything. I should be happy but I'm angrier than ever.

By the way, we finished watching the Dead Poet's Society in English today. Has anyone else here seen it?

Yes, I thought it was a very fine film. A bit overdone, and the "Iam spartacus" moment at the end was rather cliched.

But (though I am not a great fan of poetry myself), I admired the film's insistance that there is nothing wrong in wanting to know stuff, to be educated, that we don't have to dumb down and resort to "I was all, like, y'know, wow!" in order to communicate.

Random quotes I remember.

John Keating: Why do we need language?
Neil: To communicate...
John Keating: Nooo! To woo women!

=================

John Keating: I SOUND MY BARBARIC YAWP OVER THE ROOFTOPS OF THE WORLD.

=================

John Keating: Don't just jump off like lemmings! Take a look around!

Yep, for the next 2 weeks anyways and then I'm off to college. I've been told that I'm mature for my age so maybe that's why you thought I was older.

I agree mostly, especially about what you said about communication, though I liked the ending, (even if it was cliche). I would also love to have a teacher like Keating, not just because of all the freedom he allowed but also because I think that I would really be able to learn a lot from someone like that.

Yeah it was a very sad movie. I mean the guy who inspired it got fired and the guy who rallied everyone behind him killed himself. But on the other end I did enjoy it when Nuwanda decked the traitor. What can I say? the little bastard got what he deserved.

Eventually it will be. The idea behind this thread is to become the longest. It does not have any specific topic though we try to get some to talk about. Right now we are talking about the movie, The Dead Poet's Society. If you've seen it feel free to comment. You can also start a separate topic if you have a good one.
