I don't know but that pissed me off. In the book the hobbits were supposed to be something like three feet tall, and then in the movie the hobbits are 5' 4".

Indeed. There was a specifically dangerous part in the river caused by a rock. He was pulled under and didn't surface for quite a while.

hawkeye is mostly correct however the scene was when they were in the elven boats moving down river at the end of the fellowship but you got how he almost died so i'll give it to you fire away hawkeye
