Dice Statistics

Post by Uranium-235 »

What would it take to get dice statistics overall attacking and defending on a profile? What's more, I think at the conclusion of each game, it would be nice to have a dice statistics break down. Furthermore, it would be interesting to add inteligence into the rating calculations based up on what was in your control vs what was not in your control. For instance, if you lost the game but had stellar dice rolls, but poor army postioning, that should cost you more as opposed to losing the game because you started last, got poor random positioning of starting countries, drew the worst cards and had below average dice stats.

In short, this will be a NO...

I could see the end of game dice stats being interesting but it would in even more whining as most people seems unable to understand the concepts of odds and randomness. The part about "should cost you more" is crap because positioning, card draws and strategy can't be accurately measured.

Overall I can't see it ever happening and I'm quite sure I don't want it either. Sry...

You cant find out your own defending dice with this. But you can get your opponents ones.

I imagine this will never happen because it would be all too revealing. You are left guessing how fair the dice are when you don't know the truth. I don't see where knowing hurts anything or anyone. If you don't want to know, don't look. If you have an online game with unfair dice, hide it! I'm doing my best trying to keep track on paper (last time I tried to run the dice analyizer, it didn't appear to work).

The dice analyzer works just fine for me (and lots of others too). What did you think was wrong with it?

Nevermind, I think I figured it out! These guys won't provide dice statistics, because they can't even provide fair dice! If you can't get things right, there isn't much motivation to do much at all.

Well you're wrong on both but hey if you feel better blaming the dice rather than yourself then that's up to you...

There is a saying: The best games are those with enough strategy that you can congratulate yourself when you win ... and enough luck that you can blame it when you lose.

Good thing they're not actually providing the dice then.
Glad to see you did your research on your own, instead of me telling you where to read the announcement:

To be completly honest, dice stats would be a very good feature. Whining should stop and people would get alot better at the game. Those whiners in the forums can provide with stats and you can simply say numbers are perfectly fine and thats that. 8-)

To be negative against the idea of stats for the reason you are mentioning is just strange and ads suspicion imo. [-X

It won't work that way though. No one will ever complain about a game where they got good dice but those where they got poor dice will be seen as evidence that the dices are not working properly. And as people (the whiners) then are only looking at a skewed sample they will come to a skewed conclusion but proclaim it to be the truth. No good will come from this.
